Description

“Am I a compassionate soul compelled to kill, or a bloodthirsty soul compelled to weep? Either way, I am damned.”
~Zalost

Audition: [link]

Finally done! I keep going back and tweaking things, but I'm forcing myself to just accept it as is. The formatting is a little sloppy, and it's pretty text-heavy, but it'll tell you more than you ever wanted to know about my OCT character! -_-'

Zalost is the character I'm entering for :iconeden-oct:. Without further ado, I'll let the sheet speak for itself (though feel free to ask questions).

I do so love drawing snarly Zal. :meow:

Extra Info for Competetors
Attack Patterns
:bulletblue: Initial attack:
--:bulletorange: He always begins in Large form
--:bulletorange: He is particularly predictable and vulnerable to counter-attack in this stage
--:bulletorange: He never speaks during this first attack, or if he does, it is a single, malicious phrase like “DEATH!” or “TRESPASSER!”
--:bulletorange: He snaps out of this state after the first few moments of battle, or if he is injured in the initial assault

:bulletblue: After the rush of malice, Zalost becomes calculating, switching between his other two forms as the situation calls for it, and using his environment to his advantage
--:bulletorange: At this point, it is possible to have a conversation with him, but it is impossible to talk him out of trying to kill you.

:bulletblue: He never voluntarily leaves his sanctuary, but it is fairly easy to lure him out
--:bulletorange: The moment he sees his enemy, he is compelled by his need to kill, and will pursue them past the borders of his territory

:bulletblue: His battles almost always end in death, be it his own, or his opponent’s. It is against his very nature to negotiate a treaty.

Personality
:bulletblue: He is rather bitter at everyone, particularly those who refuse to leave him in peace. He hates killing, and anyone who approaches him is inadvertently forcing him to try and kill them (due to the demon’s instinct).

:bulletblue: Because his personality is a fusion of the dragon Tanotl’s and his own, he can seem moody and unpredictable. The Dragon Soul gives him a bent for deep philosophical musings and regret, while the demon Zalost is cynical, uncaring, and distrustful at heart.

Death
:bulletblue: To defeat Zalost, you must kill him. To leave him alive would not be merciful in his situation, and ending his existence is doing him a great courtesy.
--:bulletorange: He might even offer gratitude before he dies.

:bulletblue: He can be killed through normal means—physical trauma, loss of blood, etc. He is a physical, mortal creature, despite the fact that he can alter his shape.

Artist’s Notes
:bulletblue: I gave him two alternate medium forms to make him easier to draw; I know some people prefer to draw felines over wolves, so I wanted to give them the option to stick to their strengths.
--:bulletorange: That’s also why he has a fairly simple design: I want him to be easy and fun to draw for everyone (myself certainly included!).

:bulletblue: Feel free to portray him as a villain/boss to defeat. When his demon instinct is in control, he isn't something with which to be sympathetic...

:bulletblue: When he speaks, he does so Telepathically in a very straightforward and subconscious manner: if he's noticed you, he can speak to you, but if he's not directly including you in his conversation, you cannot hear a thing he says. The only actual "sounds" he can make are bestial snarls and roars.
