What is a dilute?

When we say dilute, we are referring to the look of a horses coat: the color looks diluted or washed out. There are several types of diluting genes, and few other genes that give the look of dilution but don't actually dilute a coat.

Because of the many variations in names, I started collecting names to make it easier for everyone! If you happen to know a name, feel free to comment if you notice something incorrect, just leave a comment!

Single Dilutions

Creams:
Chestnut + 1 Cream = Palomino
Black + 1 Cream = Smokey Black
Bay + 1 Cream = Buckskin
Brown + 1 Cream = Brown Buckskin
Chestnut + 2 Creams = Cremello
black + 2 Creams = Smokey Cream
bay + 2 Creams = Perlino
Brown + 2 Creams = Brown Perlino

Pearls:
Chestnut + 2 Pearl = Chestnut Pearl / Apricot Pearl
Bay + 2 Pearl = Bay Pearl
Brown + 2 Pearl = Brown Pearl
Black + 2 Pearl = Black Pearl

Champagne:
Chestnut + Champagne = Gold Champagne
Black + Champagne = Classic Champagne
Bay + Champagne = Amber Champagne
Seal Brown + Champagne = Sable Champagne

Duns:
Chestnut + Dun = Red Dun

note: Silver only appears on black coats

Chestnut + Champagne + 1 cream = Ivory Gold Champagne

Note: Because the coat is diluted so much, they all appear to have same iridescent white coat.
