Chapter 3 - Lost in the woods
---------------------------------------

The huntsman called Zelda in her little room. At first she did not believe that her stepmother would allow her to be strolling through the vast fields of Hyrule.  The Huntsman convinced her by saying that the Queen was waiting for the visit of her parents and did not want the girl to disturb the meeting.
Zelda was overjoyed with the news. For the first time, she would visit the beautiful Faron Woods, situated close to the castle. She dressed in her best dress, a beautiful purple and white dress, adorned with gold, which once belonged to her late mother. She arranged her hair, making a small braid at the tip and white tapes adorned two locks of hair that stood in front of her face. She placed a golden tiara her father had sent her as a present when she was 13 years old, through a messenger. That present was to prove that he was still alive. Even though three years have passed with no news of him, deep down in her heart she knew he would still be alive.

Once she finished getting ready, she came down the stairs of the castle and saw the huntsman waiting at the door to the palace gardens.  When the man saw her, he felt a huge tightness in his chest. The princess was beautiful. It was the first time he had saw her dressed as a princess and not as a servant, with unkempt hair and ragged and dirty clothes. Why would the queen want to see dead a girl so beautiful and sweet?
Rusl looked away immediately. He could not feel sorry for the princess. If he didn't do what the Queen had commanded him, he would be risking his life and his family. The princess then approached the huntsman, with a basket in her hand.

"Can we go?" She smiled softly at the man. "I can't wait to leave this place and meet the beautiful Faron Woods. I hope to gather beautiful flowers there!"

The huntsman looked down, feeling guilty. Then looked at the young princess who seemed very excited about her first trip outside the castle and nodded to the princess, inviting her to walk with him towards the Faron Woods.
In the distance, Midna watched them from the window of her room. With a wicked smile, she watched the two until their figures had vanished in the immensity of the forest. Everything was going as she planned.

In the woods, the princess's eyes widened at the immense beauty of the place. The sun shone brightly and warmly through the trees, illuminating the entire place and revealing the beauty of colorful flowers that adorned the green grass that covered the floor. The scent of flowers wafted through the fresh air and butterflies and birds were flying freely around. It was all so beautiful it seemed to be a dream.
Zelda sat under a tree near a small creek, where she hoped to reap many beautiful flowers. And for her luck, there were many. Carnations, roses and lilies of different colors adorned the bushes near the creek. The young woman put a lock of brown hair behind her ear and started humming a soft melody. It seemed appropriate to that place of infinite beauty, with the shoots of green grass that grew beneath her feet.

Distracted, she never even saw the huntsman approaching slowly from behind with a knife on his hands. But when she saw the man's reflection in the crystal clear stream, she let out a scream of terror that echoed through the forest, causing the frightened birds to fly from their nests.
She closed her eyes, expecting the worst. But nothing happened. She just heard the noise of something falling on the floor beside her. When she opened her eyes, she saw that the knife that was in the huntsman's hand was now lying on the ground next to her. Looking up, she saw the huntsman crying and sobbing.

"I-I can't! I can not do this! It's so cruel..."

The princess stood up and approached the man, with a confused expression. The huntsman looked at her and in an act of despair, threw himself at her feet and began to sob.

"Princess, forgive me! I never meant to hurt you... The Queen! She ordered me to come here and kill you! She is a wicked and envious witch, you should be as far away as possible from her!" He stood up and grabbed the girl's shoulders. "You must leave, princess. Run away as fast as you can! If one day your father returns, you can return in safety, but for now on keep as far away from this castle as possible! If the Queen knows that you're still alive, she will try everything to kill you! Run, Princess, run!"

Desperate and not knowing what to do, Zelda began to run aimlessly into the Lost Woods. She ran through the woods for hours and was exhausted, hungry and scared, with nowhere to hide. After hours of running through the dark forest without any destination, tiredness and hunger had won and she fell asleep right there in the darkness of the wild forest.
