...At First Glance
If anyone would happen to take interest in this particular six foot squire, they would find a young man with just enough build to carry around a fifty-five inch claymore on his back. Like any squire, he wears the usual training attire: black pants with brown knee-high leather boots, a brass chest plate, and brown leather gloves. The only thing that would make people glance twice is the unusual synthetic brown mask he wears that acts as a helmet. The mask keeps most of his face hidden; only allowing Wardell's black eyes to be seen. Shoulder length black horse hair sits on top of the mask with red and yellow feathers mixed within. Along his waist is a loosely fitting belt with a small sword secured in its sheath.

Though Wardell's face mask may look strange, it is the only way for him to protect what is left of his sanity. Beneath all of his armor are bluish red bruises that cover a large portion of his body; mostly the face.

...Skin Deep
Due to the somewhat scary looking face mask, most of Wardell's facial expressions are shrouded in mystery. Though his eyes may help people to understand a few feelings, most of them end up relying on the tone or his voice. However, he may come out and tell people just how he feels if they become too concerned. When he feels like being playful, which is rare, he will fake like he doesn't speak or understand English. To his comrades he is very dismissive and quiet. He will only speak if spoken to and even then might not say much during the conversation. This can be a very bad trait since he is somewhat knowledgeable on different types of hexes. Around people of power, knights,or children he becomes very respectful and will do anything he can in order to gain their praise. To him, reputation is everything and will never allow anything to disgrace his family name.

Since his curse, Wardell has become extremely sensitive and insecure about his outward appearance. Although he makes sure no one can see any of his flesh, it still bothers him when people make comments about his looks. He is very reluctant to get into fights unless he sees no other alternative.

...All Work And All Play
As a squire, Wardell has received most of his basic training from his master who was once a knight. He has learned how to use a short sword with ease and is good at evading close range attacks. All of his other interesting swordplay skills are self-taught. The claymore on his back once belonged to his masters; due to how heavy it is he cannot wield it with ease.

Thanks to the curse, Wardell can feel all of the pain that he inflicts on his foe. If he does have to fight he will make sure to tire out his opponent instead of hurting or killing them. This is harder for him to do than it may seem.  If he has no choice but to kill them, then he will receive a mark on his body in the form of the bruise - he has no control over where they appear. If his flesh comes into contact with the flesh of a human, it will cause them to experience all of the pain Wardell has caused on his opponents as well as the uncontrollable urge to kill.

... Everything In Between
Wardell was denied his knight ceremony after the discovery of his curse. Fearing that such a thing was contagious; the kingdom he resided in had no choice but to banish him. The one thing that disturbed them the most is how it affected other people. Since then, he has been trying to find some way to rid himself of the curse that he has received years ago. Wardell knows when he had received the curse but doesn't recall how it all happened. Was it truly meant for him? Did he do something to deserve such a fate? Aside from the curse, he continues to work on becoming a Knight and will train hard even if he is not branded as one.
My third character for YATN, Wardell Langton. A very interesting name for a very interesting character.

He reminds me of a cross between a witch doctor and a swordsman... But that is only because of his armor. Nothing witch-like about him. I am actually excited to have invented him. He seems like he will bring about lots of sadness and angst. Just the way I like it.

I also like the way I have created his curse...

Trivia: I keep messing up on his name when I type it. Is that even trivia? lol

Era says nothing as she reads the small collection of information on Wardell. Part of her cries for him and part of her feels sorry. Would she go out of her way to help him? Would he even accept it?
