While Mami was what first drove Madoka Magica's mood dark, it was Sayaka who slammed that point to the ground and drove it off the cliff. Sayaka represents the choice that probably most people would take if they can't accept the reality and consequences of their decisions, even after being told not to take the Puella Magi world lightly. Selfless decisions aren't selfless if you are expecting something in return, whether big or small. Remember that boys and girls.
