Maria Sanmarcos

Born to Mexican immigrants, Maria was a quiet child living in the Latin Town district and minding her own business. Alas, she found herself thrown into the frighteningly violent underworld of Victor Nanale's Kerpher Gang. She is seen here cowering in a cell, one of the only girls left in there that the Kerphers have not yet sold into sexual slavery.

The news has been making a big deal of her capture; but the cops consider establishing Arfaas as the new ruler of Evansville a higher priority than dealing with the Kerphers.

That's when Candi decides something needs to be done. Wearing the Ciem suit for the first time ever in Evansville proper, Candi sneaks into the docks where she feels the cops should have first considered looking.

She proceeds to do what she feels the Hebbleskins should have given their hatred of the Kerphers and their near-unlimited power: kill the Kerpher Gang and rescue the children!

Ciem pulls this off mostly be beating up Kerphers and tricking them into killing each other, rather than by killing any of them directly. (Musaran would have simply hacked up Kerphers and children alike indiscriminately.)

While the children scatter, Ciem singles out Maria to be returned to her home. She has to expose her identity as Candi to Maria, to convince the frightened child that a caring woman is underneath that mask - not a bug monster.

Ciem escorts Maria back home to her loving family; but must battle Musaran to get there.

Note: The above narrative adheres to Comprehensive Gerosha. Classic Gerosha simply has Nanale alone with Maria in an alleyway, and Ciem beats him up with no trouble. There is an eventual scene battling Musaran, but it plays out differently.
