Bert double checked his equipment and smiled as he picked up Magie's reins. He remembered a weekend shortly after he had proposed to Astrid, her father had insisted Bert join him for an archery practice for some father and son-in-law bonding. Bert was a little nervous about the whole thing, but was extremely surprised to show up and find several of the members dressed in colorful costumes! He had known that Astrid and her family often went camping together on weekends they weren't competing at horse shows, but he hadn't realized that these "camping" trips were part of a medieval reenactment group. There was no way anyone was getting him to wear one of those silly outfits. Then again, when your brand new wife is smiling up at you with her big blue eyes... you end up doing things you wouldn't otherwise. And so three years later, here he was, about to go galloping on horseback with a bow and arrow in his hands instead of the reins... he would not, however, be wearing a costume.
