Hello, and welcome to Emote Freshmen. This is a new interview series dedicated to gathering the input of new/newer emoticonists(less than one year old). We will have a new article 2-3 times a month!
Today we will be interviewing
Piirustus
Piirustus has been making emoticons for about 6 months. She had skyrocketed seance then, receiving a Daily Deviation after making emoticons for only 3 months! Now please welcome Emma to the show!
Opening words of the artist:
Hey everyone! Thank you for taking time to read my interview

Q1:
How did you find the emoticon community, and why did you stay?
Honestly, I had never known about communities in dA. In my previous account I didn't get to know many people. I guess I wanted to start something new so I started doing emotes, which led me to the community. I love how tight-knit our group is, and we pretty much depend on each other to keep emotes alive I also love all the people

Q2:
When you started making emotes, did you use many resources? If so, which tutorials, groups, etc did you find most helpful?
Umm, I did use a tutorial in the very beginning, but I changed my style soon after. Mainly, I picked up tips from other emote artists and created my own style.

Q3:
What program(s) do you like to use most when making emotes?
Photoshop Elements. Actually it's the only program I've ever tried using
I tried paint once but I depend on layers so much that I just gave up.

When you first started, what emoticonist(s) did you look up to the most?
Geez, that's hard. Probably Krissi001.

Q5:
Which of your works are you most proud of? And why?
Lol, probably not one of my emote pieces actually.
If it was an emote piece then this, because I spent so much time on it.
If it's pixel art then this, because it was my first pixel piece and I love it :

Animation
Other then that, maybe finding the facial expression.

Q7:
How are you liking the emoticon community so far? Anything you think that should happen to make you feel more welcomed?
Eh. I love the community, but honestly, I find that some emote artists are more well known then others, even if they are equally skilled. Also, you have to be pretty active to be able to stay in the community.

In the future, what do you want to improve and hope to do more/most of as an emoticonist?
Well, I'm sorta half in half out now. I hope I can really join the community and be able to stay there

Anybody Want to Run 12DoC this year?
Hey!
So since unfortunately I am not currently active and am not able to dedicate the time to run this event, it would be awesome if someone could keep this event going this year!
If you decide to run it, I would promote you to founder, and you would be totally in charge of the event (promoting, gathering volunteers, etc.). Run it however you wish, just please keep the Christmas spirit of the event the same.:giggle:
So, if you are interested, please note me with maybe why you want to run it, and other events you have run/helped run, just so I know the group is going to good hands.;p I also ask that you have at least some group running exp
WOO, BACK MOSTLY!!!
I found out that it was my laptop mouse that was making the laptop run glitchy, so I tried my old mouse in, and it worked!:dummy:
So now that I have a smooth running computer, I can be back on here for at least the community part, but I just can't really do art until there is a new/fixed desktop because I have no good editing program on this laptop, and there is not enough space to download my project files on to here.:hmm:
So Sunday, I will be able to start up my "Emoticon of the Week" series again, and the 26th, I'll start up my "Fella Features You!" series. I missed my turn for deviant365 (https://www.deviantart.com/deviant365) last, but some time in September it will be my t
Computer Problems Suck
So the computer ended up completely dying, and the laptop is being dumb, so I can't be doing my thing on here for at least a few weeks.:noes:
I unfortunately can not write up any articles over my phone ,, , but I can over my laptop, it will just take a lot longer.>.> I can't promise being really active as I'd like to be on here until I get a new desktop.
i know I've been saying that if be back full time and everything like twice now, but it's just been one thing after another this summer so far keeping me off here.:nuu:
I hope to see you guys more soon! Again, the computer gets replaced I will be able to be on here as much as I was
Will be out for a little time longer
Hey!
So I found out that I have another trip planned out this week, busy summer haha, so I will not be back full for like another week.>.>
In other news though, I will not be making any art for some time because my desktop's hard drive went out, and my laptop mouse is really dumb, so making anything with it would be a real pain.:shakefist: I will be active otherwise tough when I get back.;)
See you guys!
