Growing up, Mu

Description

:dummy: Wow, I got it done in one day!

This is six/seven hours of work with a break for dinner (but no potty breaks).

Anywho. I don't remember what inspired this, but I was talking with Darqx about something. And the two of us have been Muroing the baby assassins for quite a while now and I was intrigued with drawing Mu at various stages in her life. While drawing this, I riddled out what would be going on with her at each time--and that was actually pretty fun. And it was challenging to try to draw Mu at different ages while making sure she still looked like herself and yet still looked like she was aging. I think I did an alright job of it.

I expect a matching one of Eid, Darqx! :heart:

Edit: WHOO you can check out Eid's right here: [link]

I hate shoes. :|

Now I want to do one for another character of mine. =P We'll see if that one ever, ever, ever gets finished. Anyways, hope you like the drawing and all the analysis.

Edit: OKAY OKAY THERE YOU HAVE AGE 22 ENJOY

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Age 3: Mu is probably being cared for in an orphanage somewhere in the poorest parts of the city, but has already been “marked” by The Company. Happily oblivious to most of the trouble in life, she’s content to hang out, eat, and watch the world.
Age 7: Mu has been in The Company for at least a year now. Deep in the intensive training program that will eventually turn her into a skilled assassin; she is constantly beat up and covered in bandages. She is forced to wear the “uniform” of the young trainees so that the Caretakers and Trainers know who she is and where she’s supposed to be at all times. She’s met her partner, Eid, and becomes his long-term team member. She quickly learns how to communicate and get along with the mute boy. She is a little rebellious and sassy, and never stops talking—seeing as the training hasn’t broken her spirit.
Age 12: Current Mu. Mu has adopted her trademark cat-eared-hoodie. She is already good at her assigned job (child assassin), but mostly enjoys the time in between missions. While she isn’t paid for her job, she’s skilled enough at thievery to get whatever she wants. After being Eid’s partner for six years already, she tends to get nervous and anxious when he’s out of her line of sight. She considers him her closest friend and he’s probably the only one she trusts completely. She longs to have a normal family, but doesn’t dare to try and cross The Company due to the stories they’ve always been told about the kids that try to run away.
Age 16: Growing up has given Mu a little more common sense, but she still runs at a mile a minute and is still a super-tomboy. She’s curious about boys by this point in time, but refrains from getting involved with anyone; mostly because it would be too dangerous with her profession. Any boy that does catch her attention is quickly discarded (and it may or may not be because she has the slightest crush on her partner of now ten years). Puberty has given her a few inches of height, among other things she’d rather not discuss. She’s starting to realize, ironically, that she is a girl and is interested in trying to be a bit feminine, so she lets her hair grow out. She’s starting to question things about The Company.
Age 19: Mu has hit her most feminine spot in life, and yet she’s really not all that feminine at all. She adopts a darker color scheme to compensate with her increasingly dangerous missions. She liked ribbons and bows, but still hasn’t given up her love of all things cat—and still wears a cat-eared-hoodie at this point. Legal now, Mu has the right to carry more than just a few knives around with her on missions and carries more than one firearm at this point. She’s comfortable with being a girl (though probably not with the feelings she may or may not have for her also growing up partner of now thirteen years). Still hyperactive, but only after especially deep sugar binges. Her questions about The Company have reached levels that are alarming to the Boss and she knows that she’s under constant surveillance.
Age 22: The thing about training assassins is that you always have to keep those people happy. The last thing you want is for your weapon to become your greatest enemy. Ironically, The Company is unaware of Mu’s two-faced behavior seeing as she’s eliminated anyone with any idea that she’s working against the people that have had her life in their hands. Mu’s Company-Job at this point mostly consists of infiltration and elimination—meaning she sneaks her way into important parties, hideouts etc in order to get rid of certain targets or to send a message of warning, 007 style. In her free time she inconveniences The Company at every turn she can—causing certain missions to fumble, accidentally destroying important files on office computers, giving certain targets the heads up and letting them escape. The like. More than once she’s altered files in order to keep Eid as her partner: she blatantly refused to work with anyone else for years, to the point where she’s threatened to off the other person if needed.
She’s mostly abandoned her trademark cat-eared-hoodie at this point, mostly because she has to dress formally more often than she’d like—though she refuses to wear the formal clothing matching her gender. She also doesn’t exactly care about matching. A pink barrette with a blue shirt? Why the hell not. She likes to wear her latest hoodie, the yellow and orange one, while she completes her daily regime of exercise. Sick of long hair, she lops it off in the back, leaving her ever present dragontails.
After dealing with the awkward “You’re a boy, I’m a girl” factor for six years, Mu bluntly decides to LET EID KNOW EXACTLY HOW SHE FEELS. After all, they’ve been partners nearly their entire lives and she’s accepted the fact that when he’s out of her sight she has mini panic attacks until they’re reunited again (something that’s only grown up with them. She’s been having nightmares about losing him for years). Never really all that shy, you can probably imagine she grabbed him by the face, laid one on him, and talked for ten minutes straight telling him I LIKE YOU which could have been said in, lol, three words. To hell with keeping your personal life out of your professional life. She knows they’re both lucky to have lived this long so it’s time to indulge. NO MORE HIDING.
