I was at a baseball game on Memorial Day and saw these two guys sitting together a few rows away. The older one had light hair and a beard and seemed to be cheerfully enjoying himself. The younger one had dark hair and a ponytail and looked a bit grumpy. They certainly didn't look as much like Valjean and Javert as I've drawn them here, but their likeness and mannerisms were close enough that I couldn't help but watch the two of them between at-bats. They probably left the game wondering, "Why did that weirdo in the other row keep looking at us?"

And yes, the older gentleman did flip his hat into a rally cap toward the end of the game. (And it worked! We won.) So here's Valjean and his reluctant buddy Javert enjoying a baseball game on a nice day.
