Team Rackam - for OCT

Description

My tribute for a character tournament, flanked by his stylish chaperone and his ghoulish mentor.

Jack Rackam: a wiry, energetic 17-year old boy who has spent his entire life up to this point in the underground chemical pits of a massive textile factory. Working with dyes and bleaches without any protective equipment whatsoever has driven Jack entirely insane, and he sees the games as an opportunity to unleash his savage, animal nature.

Miss Lavender: a surprisingly anti-establishment citizen of the capitol, Lavender has a flair for poetic language and subversive criticism of the government she serves. Typically a cynical and reluctant member of the upper class, Lavender has taken an unusually preferential liking to Jack, and wishes to help him survive the games in whatever way she can.

Edgar: while not actually present at the training sessions, Edgar has influenced Jack's abilities and personality more than anyone. The "pit-boss" of the factory's chemical pits and 'manager' of the hundreds of child laborers, Edgar is a sadistic, drug-crazed sociopath with a furious temper and an intense hatred for Jack in particular. In a bizarre twist, the socially-deprived Jack has come to regard Edgar as something akin to a father figure, and feels the boss' 'guidance' has given him the skills he needs to win. What more could you want from a mentor?

Virtually every part of this lineup shows shameless self-indulgence on my part, but I hope you'll forgive me. ;)

Self-indulgence? After my last effort you're forgiven.

Hunger games has clearly struck a chord with you. I saw the film when it came out, and despite obvious parallels with "Battle Royale" (and other classics of the genre) I thought it was brilliant. I take it we'll be seeing more?
