Description

No pony had ever set a hoof in this cavern before. Deep underground, the only entrances were through twisting honeycombs of passages, some of which nearly required flight to access. In the fairly bland and unremarkable cave system, no pegasus had ever bothered exploring them extensively. Most pegasi weren't as adventurous as Rainbow Dash. Then again, most pegasi didn't have a friend as overbearing about satisfying their curiosity as Twilight Sparkle was, either.

As the two soared up through yet another hole in the ceiling, the two ponies were greeted with a sight that quieted them both. Even Rainbow Dash couldn't find words to describe the sight before her eyes. Veins of crystal spiderwebbed across the wall, glittering faintly in the dim light of the headlamps each pony carried. As they twisted around, even their breath seemed still, the only sound the muffle flapping of a pair of wings.

"This is incredible." Neither pony could remember who broke the silence, if you asked them about it afterward, but both agreed that nothing else needed to be said.

After what could have been hours in the timeless dark, Twilight tugged gently on the rope and Rainbow descended, flapping slowly through the same hole by which they had entered.

As their hooves finally set down once again on the rock, violet eyes met magenta for the briefest second, flickering wordless expressions of the splendor they had seen. Without a word, the two trotted back towards the sunlit world once again, eager to share what they had just seen.

OHMYGOSH. I keep forgetting how stunning your stuff can get--it's like, I can tell you've still got technical skills to learn, but you have SUCH ideas and such a fantastic ability to capture atmospheres, it's easy to forget everything else. XP
