Story:

“I told you a million times she’s not too much horse for me. I can handle her, I’m not stupid.” Aubrie sighed deeply as she adjusted the strap of her hot pink tank top, rolling her eyes. Josh smirked, patting Kasey, who was standing by the entrance to the Misty Meadows Stable arena, looking very impatient. “Anyway, the show is tomorrow, so I don’t really have a choice now.”

“But she hates you, and you know it. Don’t think I haven’t seen you ride her at home,” Josh teased. Josh was clearly giving Aubrie grief, and she didn’t exactly appreciate it. Kasey stomped her foot yet again, searching the ground for little bits of hay and grain. “Fine then, have it your way. But when you fall off, I’ll be the one saying I told you so.” Aubrie ignored him and stalked into the arena, horse in tow. She only wanted to have a nice quiet ride, no barrels, so she swung herself into the saddle and set off at a quiet, relaxed walk along the inside track. Sitting quietly to Kasey’s natural rhythm, she whirled around and made a face at Josh. He rolled his eyes, meaning that Aubrie had done her job.

Excited, Aubrie fought herself to keep Kasey walking for a few minutes, because she knew she needed to warm up. At long last, she felt it was okay to ask for a jog, and ask she did. That did it. The Paint mare was off in a running, bucking, whirling ball or energy, clearly annoyed at Aubrie’s audacity to ask for such an atrocious thing as a jog. Aubrie fought Kasey, even bringing out the one-rein stop, but to no avail. The mare was clearly not just trying to annoy her rider, she was trying to get her off, and get her off NOW. Aubrie knew better than to give in, though, so once she managed to wrench her to a stop, she asked her to bend her head until she softened either way for a few minutes, and once Kasey had mastered that and had calmed down, she asked her to jog off.

And jog off she did. Aubrie grinned, and muttered praise to the mare. Someone by the gate let out a whoop of joy, and as Aubrie turned her head briefly, she saw that Dana and Stacy had joined Josh in their little entourage. Eventually, Kasey was demonstrating a flawless lope, and several near-perfect rollbacks, and both breathing heavily and sweating, the two of them decided to throw in the towel.

The Pebble Creek crew at the gate had been reduced to just Stacy, who grinned widely and patted Kasey as Aubrie dismounted, a huge smile on her face. “You finally figured her out! I’m so proud, and what a place to do it too! You just have to teach her that if she misbehaves, she gets to do something boring and redundant. And then voila!” Kasey snorted, rubbing her face on her cannon.
“Forget Kasey, I just can’t wait to see the look on Josh’s face!” Aubrie laughed, and with that, she strode off toward the barn, rubbing Kasey’s forehead.

I really want a teal set of boots this color and a button down to match. I love this color.

Also, check out the vintage Kasey art :giggle:
