Magic

The land of Gehenna has always been very filled with it. Demons can inherently tap into magic, but not all ever become particularly skilled in it. Since humans are not native to Gehenna, magic is something that does not come naturally to them. As compared to the first generation of humans who made their way to Gehenna however, nowadays it is easier for humans to find their element with training. Magic at times baffles those around it since it seems to have a mind of its own. When one thinks about it, the way magic is set up makes it seem like they're all bickering siblings. Over usage of magic can result in death both due to the "personalities" of each element and because they are very taxing on one's body to use.

Lower level individuals can only use ONE type of magic. However, not everyone is skilled with magic even as they rise up in rank, so please keep this in mind. Some are more skilled at melee battle than magic, and may use it to simply boost up their weapons strength, ect.




Water
In order to use this element, the individual has to have a rather calm mindset. Water element tends to be used for healing purposes, but it can also be deadly when used as a weapon. As an individual advances, they can gain the ability to freeze water and make it into ice. Water tends to be most effective against fire. (Water can become ice at rank 4 (Principality). No earlier than that.)


Fire
This element tends to enjoy being used by those who draw upon powerful emotions to use it. Fire is very destructive and difficult to control, and so to those who forget control themselves and allow the magic to overcome them they can be engulfed by it. It takes much practice to be able to properly control this magic without harming oneself or others. Fire tends to be most effective attack wise against wind since it tends to be greedy and "devours" it. With more training, the higher level individuals can learn electrical attacks. (Fire can become electricity at rank 4 (Principality). No earlier than that.)


Earth
A very stubborn element, it takes a very long time to learn for humans and some demons to learn and control. Earth is a protective element usually, helping aid in defensive means rather than offensive. Earth is best against water since it soaks it up like a sponge. However, if an individual prefers to control plants instead of simply the rocky aspect....fire will obliterate it.


Wind
Usually appears in those with a big independence streak, it is not too difficult to use usually, but it can try one's patience since the element of wind is so free. Usually easier for those to use who were born with it, seeing as to it is less uncontrollable. Wind is often used at times as defensive or a speed booster though it shows to be good at offensive as well. Wind is best effective against earth since it wears down the rock and sand.


*Light
Also known as "white magic" it is a force that is considered to be "created" by humans for the sole purpose of dealing with demons. It was made to heal the wounded, and destroy those considered "unholy", but the magic is stubborn and at times refuses to obey the castor unless they have a powerful conviction for whatever it is they need it for. Though the magic was made to harm demons, at times, it does what it pretty much wants. If a castor wishes to heal a demon, the magic will VERY rarely do so without harming them. However, for those humans of a high level like Virtues, they can do so without much effort if they wished. Low level castors can actually die using the magic if they are not careful since it drains a lot of energy; more so than the other elements. Light has a natural dislike of dark.

*Dark
Also known as "black magic" it is a magic that most demons can tap into with little to no problem. However, dark magic is judgmental of its castor, and if they prove weak it will do as was asked of it but will also kill the one who used it. Higher level demons tend to have a better control of it seeing as to they know how the magic acts. To ensure lower level demons don't run amok with this magic, it is highly regulated by Overlords. Humans on the otherhand, seem to have a very difficult time with this magic. Usually most of the spells used by it are forbidden. Like light, it sucks much energy as payment for usage, more so than the other elements. Dark has a natural dislike of light.
(Easy to abuse this magic, so we will be strict with abilities concerning it)

Cursed areas:
These are areas that are seeped in simply too much magic and have become fairly uninhabitable. It has horrible effects on both demons, humans and other creatures. Making those who have been in the area too long feel rather sick, and sometimes it twists their form into something unrecognizable and devoid of rational thought. Fairly strong demons have a better resistance to such areas, able to explore them for a small amount of time due to the magic make up of their own bodies, and for humans, only those who are already fairly strong with it can enter these lands. However, animals tend to easily mutate if they’re there too long and turn into “monsters”.

*Forbidden magic:
Usually pertains to dark magic, there are several spells that are forbidden and several magical techniques that are as well. The technique of devouring demon flesh to gain demonic powers among humans is a taboo (among demons this is also frowned upon very much), and those discovered to have been doing the act are promptly executed out of fear that they themselves will become demons. Spells that tap into things that play with life, such as resurrection and the controlling of spirits and the dead, are strictly forbidden. However, the general populace does not know about these things due to much censoring in magic books.

Demons on the otherhand.....don’t care much for human rules concerning such magic. Not all are proficient in this dark magic due to the dangerousness of it's "personality", and only high level demons know how to control it fully without too much issue. Though demons in general seem to be a bit more carefree with the usage of their magic, they still have rules, and breaking them can be even more severe than with humans.
