From now on, for Brawl snapshots to be accepted, they must be decrypted images from the snapshot file. Photographs of the tv screen will be rejected.

There are two reasons for implementing this. One, decrypted snapshots are of vastly superior quality compared to those of the photograph of the tv variety, and the quality of the latter is terrible to where it can be difficult to discern what the snapshot is actually of. Two, Bin2jpg, the program used to decrypt snapshots, is free to download, simple to set up and use, and it takes up barely any space (the zipped file is only 77.5 kb in size, while the files gained from unzipping it total only 260 kb, so size is not an issue). As such, unless you do not use Windows (as batch files are only naturally recognised by Windows), there is no legitimate reason for those interested in submitting Brawl snapshots to not decrypt their snapshots.

If you do not have Bin2jpg, you can download it here www.gamefront.com/files/987815…

If you do not have a computer running Windows and lack the technical savvy to bypass this limitation, but are interested in submitting Brawl snapshots, contact me (my profile is located here OmegaTyrant) and we'll set something up for me to decrypt your snapshots for you.

If you need a guide to setting up and using Bin2jpg, read below:

Step 1: Once you downloaded Bin2jpg, move the zipped file to a folder dedicated to it (not necessary, but this will help greatly in organisation).

Step 2: Once you move the file to its own folder, unzip it. You'll get a batch file named bin2jpgall, and two exe files named bindecrypt and out2jpg.

Step 3: With Bin2jpg set up, insert a SD card that has the Brawl snapshots you want to decrypt. From the snapshot menu in Brawl, you can copy and move any snapshot from the Wii onto a SD card.

Step 4: On your SD card, go to the location your Brawl snapshots are located (which is private -> wii -> app -> RSBE -> al). Once in the al folder, copy/move the files of the snapshots you want to decrypt to the folder that Bin2jpg is located.

Step 5: With the snapshot files in the Bin2jpg folder, run the batch file bin2jpgall.

Step 6: If done correctly, it'll decrypt all snapshot files in the folder, leaving you with a jpg image of each snapshot, as well as a junk file that can be deleted.
