Enter Clotho, Lachesis and Atropos, collectively known as the Moirai, or Parcae, or Fates.
They are the incarnations of destiny: Clotho spins the thread which symbolizes a human being's life, Lachesis measures it, and finally Atropos cuts it thus determining the death.
