Once again, I left my corner and got onto the pavement. Once again, it was crowded with people. And once again, nobody saw me.

I would meet up with the lady next door, asking her how she was, but the answer I would get was 'Go away if you've got no business here! You're repelling the customers!', as usual. It almost sounded like a song in my head.

Once in a while, I would hear my name, and round the bend I came only to see that I wasn't being called.

Sometimes, I would go to the park, play with the pigeons, the dogs and the fish. They knew me. They listened and accompanied me throughout the day. But at the end, I was still not visible to anyone but them.

At night, I would gaze at the stars shining in the pitch black sky, casting their light upon me. They probably saw me, they probably cried for me or did they shout at me? All the same, I smiled. It felt good not to be ignored, and I once again fell aslumber with the same pang inside me.
This is for :iconflash-fic-month:

Okay, today's challenge was a really tough one for me... so not a too lengthy one. Here it is, I quote: "Today's challenge is to write a story inspired by the music of David Bowie."

So, I looked for a song for a long while, since I happened to fall on too quirky ones, or ones that involved romance (I'm still terrible about it).

In the end, I took 'Shadow Man', hence the title 'Shadow boy'. And I took the lyrics from here.

- 'Once again, I left my corner [again] and got onto the pavement' [It's redundant]
- 'nobody [was seeing] me.' [was seeing is bulky. It's almost always better to use 'saw']
- 'but [all] the answer I would get was' [all does not make sense here. You can use 'only' or a similar word but you don't need anything there at all. The rest of the sentence is sufficient.]
- 'Once [] a while,' [in]
- 'they probably cried for me or did they [probably] shout at me?' [It's unneeded, but your choice. I think it sounds bulky]

I liked it. I think it would have been cooler if he ended up turning into a shadow of himself literally.
