21 - Nwyrd (The dream snake)

Part of my personal Tarot. This one is remotely linked to the Chariot trump. It is if you take Alan Moore's version of it in Promethea #12.

This trump represents shamanic vision and dreamscapes as the basis for cult and culture.
It is also a reference to Beltane as seen through the eyes of Marion Zimmer Bradley in the Mists of Avalon, i.e. a ritual channeling of the gods for sacred procreation.

To the untrained eye, the scene might look a little biblical. To the True Blood afficionados there are traces of Lilith. Really, these are side effects (but dreams do generate echo...)

The title is from Aquarius, the opening song of the musical Hair. (The image is not golden, so the living dream has lost its color!)

I am now only two card from a full deck and this one was a long time coming. It was prompted by the Caught in Dreamland contest without which I probably wouldn't have thought of the circle reference (dream producing substance producing dream) around the virgin.

So I'm officially entering the Caught in Dreamland contest at Digital-Art-Fantasy
