A standard XC course is 6km long - this event takes it to a new level, testing not only a horse's jumping skills and bravery, but also its ability to tackle changing terrain and long distances.

Restrictions: Show experience and height per class.
Location: Dartmoor, England, UK.
Weather: Overcast with patchy rain and cold.
Ground conditions:
Fields - grassy, firm ground sloping steeply towards the moor.
Moor - thin yellowing grass and heather, puddles and mud; flat ground, boggy in places.
Forest - dry dirt and pine needle floor, gentle slope towards fields.
Rules:
-REGISTRATION-
Pre-registration is not required, but you will need to contact me before the end date to collect a starting number (even if it doesn't show in the image). Entries without a starting number will be disqualified.
-RIDERS-
Riders must be over 10 to enter the Novice class and over 18 to enter the Intermediate and Advanced classes.
Riders may enter both the Intermediate and Advanced classes if they are qualified.
Riding hats (no bicycle helmets, etc.), body protectors and cross country silks must be worn by all competitors.
Starting numbers need to be worn by riders on the front, back and/or arm.
-HORSES-
Horses must be age 5 or over to enter.
No fantasy breeds. Natural 'fake' breeds (Nordanners, Warmbloods, Ochas, etc.) are welcome, but please get approval from me before entering these horses.
Horses can enter one class only.
Appropriate tack must be worn when competing. Brushing boots and studded shoes are recommended (as the ground is boggy) but not required.
Horses may be ridden without a bit in the Novice and Intermediate classes only.
-ART-
Accepted forms: Digital (Soft), Traditional, Comic, Digital (Pixel).
Drawn backgrounds are required.
Full or 3/4 body showing both horse and rider in at least one image (paces: trot, canter, gallop, jump).
All art submitted must be original and your own work - no reusing of old linearts, etc.
Only one image is required and you may only draw a maximum of one image for each stage.
Accurate backgrounds are key and very inaccurate images will be disqualified. I have provided reference images and weather/temperature for you. For more reference images google 'Dartmoor' or 'Devon'.
- e.g. If there are horses in the field behind your jump then they would be Hightor horses.
-STORY-
Not required, but will have some weighting in the judging if it expands on your image in some way.
If your stable is not based in the area, a mention of your travelling/reasons for coming to the UK would be a nice addition.
Judging:
Score is out of 100.
All of an entrant's images will be scored together, so consistency is key. Extra images give +15% to the final score.
Accuracy: (50) How much attention you pay to your jumps, equipment, background, story, etc. I provide a lot of reference information so do read over it and look at the images.
Quality of drawing: (30) Effort [15], creativity [10] and skill [5].
Time Penalties: (20) These will be half random, half based on your horse's training and abilities. I take into account training in back-stories and personalities as well as training images for this.
