Well kids , I know that a lot of you were waiting for this moment ! A lot have begged and prayed for this day to come .. THE TIME HAS COME !
Frederick Bean Avery (Feb 26 1908 - August 26 1980) arrived at Warner Bros. , and his hand-picked staff of animators and directors, and started the wonder that kicked our psyches in the ass called The Golden Age of Animation.
Tex's attitude was that cartoons could and should do anything: they were among the first in Hollywood to realize cartoons (and movies) were just old enough to have established expectations in its audience, which could lead to various situations , especially the most out-there and exagerated !
While Avery's career in theatrical animation began and ended at the Walter Lantz studio, it's his six years at Warners and twelve-year tenure with MGM that made him one of the undeniably absolute greats .
Tex directed the first Daffy Duck short (Though his 3rd Daffy short is his cherry on the cake) and the first "true" Bugs Bunny cartoon "A Wild Hare" in 1940.
In 1941 ,after a squabble with Leon Schlesinger, director Tex Avery was hired by the MGM Cartoon studio to try and give the studio something other Harman And Ising's cutesy oneshot short subjects.
And I one thing to say about his MGM output: HOLY FUCKING SHIT IS THAT STUPENDOUS !
Free of the budget and creative constraints he faced at Warner Bros., and with a staff of skilled animators at his side (some of whom were even ex-Disney employees), Tex Avery hit his fucking stride! From 1942 to 1957 (Yes , his wackiness did survive in the 50's ! Tex also knew varying degrees of cartoon madness and had shorts either full of dark humor, heavy slapstick or heartwarming karmic endings ...), he cranked out dozens of classics that made him a legend in animation and cartoons.
The MGM characters are Droopy (the badass good samaritan ), Screwy Squirrel (that Tex hated apparantly... Don't look at me , he never cared much for the rodent ! Strange ...), Red, Wolfie, Spike, George and Junior...
BTW, I am gonna repost the Termite terrace directors , and brother am I gonna give hell MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA ! You have to guess which cartoons I am refering to in each image !
