First of all I am not any kind of expert on doing fire hahaa.
But I will show you how I discovered to do fire on Adobe Photoshop Elements The image only shows how it looks in each step and in here I will describe what I did. I recommend you to use a dark background, so you appreciate the flame better. I used black

Document info:
Width: 3000 pixels
Height: 6000 pixels
Resolution: 72 pixels/inch

So lets start!

1. First, with your paint brush (size depends on how big or small you want to do the flame, I used 1012px) Choose the color Red (ff0000) and change the setting of your paint brush. It should be Normal, opacity: 57%, Hardness: 0% Fade: 0% then you paint a small ball. You can appreciate that the borders of the ball is shaded, it will give it like luminosity sensation.

2. Then, make you brush a bit smaller and choose an orange color (ff9935)

3. Then do the same but with a yellow color (ffea00)

4. Then with white.

5. Now grab the smudge tool and change the settings into this: Normal, Strength: (I Used 80% but you can start playing with the strength so you have different effects.) The size: I used 170 px but depending on how you want it you can change it, remember the size of our documents may be different.

6. Continue with step 5 but now resize your brush smaller so you have this effect.

7. Your flame is done! well, I played with other tools such as the Dodge tool to give it more light but then you play with it and do what comes into your mind.

PD: this is the way I do fire. So, if you have another way maybe you can show it to me so I can improve mine. This is an easy and quick way to do it. Also you can do it with other programs not only adobe photoshop elements.
