I planned to do this sooner or earlier

Here we go, earlier.

So basically, this is an explanation about my tone. You know, when I'm writing in English.

I hope, if you're reading this after finding something I said somewhere on the Net somehow improper or needlessly pointy, this can help you understand, and I hope that you can trust in me when I say I do not intend to hurt or offend.

I've been on quite a medication for the last couple of months and it's going to stay as long as it takes to make me better. This medication has caused me a few "amusing" side effects such as shaky hands, black-outs of consciousness, choppy speech, drowsiness, forgetfulness, on-and-off clumsiness, what have you. It affects my mother tongue and I wouldn't be surprised if it affected my English as well.

Ok meds are really the most classic of excuses. I know that. But the point is, English is not my mother tongue, and the meds screw up my brain chemistry and might just drop my English skills down a notch or three.

My mother tongue, and the culture accompanying it, it bears to mention, is one where the general tone is just incredibly more direct than in English. Oblique humour (which directly translated would just come off as outright offensive) is pretty much a national sport.

I won't bore you with more detailed examples. But I have noticed, earlier, that my mother tongue directness despite my best efforts does shine through my English every now and then. I wouldn't be surprised if it was more often these days.
