Description

This is for the :icon100themeschallenge: "86". It was also for my school project "harmony". I feel that an underwater scene would be very peaceful, and all of the varying colors of blue would also be harmonious color choices.

This is colored pencil on 18x24 paper. I was super excited to use the big paper, I could do the 86 challenge!! My idea was 86 different kinds of fish. One day at starbucks I googled LOTS of fish and after getting all of the pretty ones, and then other fishy things like seahorses, squid, turtles, eels... etc. I still didn't have 86 fish :( So it ended up having to be 86 fish, not different species. darn! and then as I drew them onto the paper it started looking a little too crowded, so I had to end with 30 or so mussels and a couple of starfish on the rock. Sorry guys, for aesthetic reasons I couldn't persevere! But if you look on here you'll find all kinds of interesting things, nudibranchs, sea slugs, this awesome kind of thing called mushroom soft coral!!! SO IVE GOT UNDERWATER MUSHROOMS ALRIGHT!!!

Some interesting things though... my roommate is super into marine biology and diving, and apparently I have some... discrepancies... like catfish in the ocean. who knew they were fresh water fish?! lol. And some things like saw fish my the ruins when they'd be near the floor, and shy fish that aren't hiding... etc. not to mention poor size comparisons XD. Sorry, I didn't know! blame google >.>

Added atlantis. How could you not do an underwater scene without glittering city ruins?!

Also added Corlath, Marky, and myself. woohoo!

used this for stock for the cliff thingy. [link] It was super helpful, rock is hard :(

I am amazed at your persistence! Continue on and by the end of your 100 drawings you shall be a great master.

this is like walking into curiosity shop with things here and there catching your attention every which way you look. how long did this take you? research and all?

... lov'in the skinny-dippers well as the fishies :)
