Twilight Sparkle- Queen of Shadows. MLP fan fic.

Chapter 1:

Finally, Twilight and Spike reached the tower, and hovering before their eyes, just in their reach was the Crystal heart.

“This is it” Twilights eyes beamed with joy, as she stepped towards the light blue gem, the floor quaked as if it was struck by lightning and a fortress of Black crystals rose from beneath her.

Trapped inside the wall of diamonds, a roaring laughter echoed “Twilight Sparkle”.

“Stop hiding” shrieked Twilight, “Come out you coward!” She could feel the anger and hatred boil inside, feeding the darkness.

“So this is the little unicorn that figured out my traps…” a deep chilling voice echoed. Rising from the darkness stood King Sombra, only a head hovering with eyes burning like the flames of hell, “ You are just as powerful as the legends foretold… and, are just as lovely as your namesake”.

Feeling the anger pulse through her, Twilight charged towards the demonic beast, but ran through the shadowy figure. It was like as if she ran into a blizzard, the cold emptiness froze her body.

“Valiant, but you’re wasting your precious breath, so why don’t you do the wise thing and hand over the Crystal heart” .

“Never!” Twilight yelled. Using her remaining amount of magic she raised a force field around herself and the crystal heart, “I won’t let the Crystal kingdom fall. I won’t fail the Princess”.

“So naïve….” he chuckled “ Can’t you see that Celestia is only squandering your powers... Celestia only limits your knowledge because she knows you are just as powerful as her. Whenever Equestria is under threat she always sends you… to her you are just a mere lap dog.”

“STOP IT” Twilight stood her ground, shielding herself from the shadows, tearing throught the force field.

“She keeps you ignorant in bliss to prevent you becoming as strong as her”


“Don’t listen to him, Twilight” a faint voice squeaked in the distance. It was Spike, calling from outside the crystal walls. “snap out of it Twilight, don’t listen to his tricks”. As Spike stepped torwards Twilight, jagged pieces of dark crystals formed beneath his feet as if he was stepping on land mines. He was trapped.


Sombra’s green eyes started back at Twilight, burning into her soul.
She opened her eyes and she was back at the Crystal fair. Twilight saw her brother, Shining armour, covered by the dark gems, consuming his body, draining his strength. And lying cold as stone was Cadance, weakened by over using her powers to protect the kingdom.

Sombra’s deep voice whispered “this can all be avoided... if you give me the heart.”

Twilight snapped out of the nightmare, “this is another of Sombra’s illusions, I wont fail the empire. I won’t fail the Princess”. She strengthen the force field even though she felt like she was slipping out of consciousness.


Sombra continued “ I’ve seen your fears, I’ve seen your dreams, your hearts desires. And I’ve seen your potential…. With you as my student I’ll help you discover your magical possibilities”.
Twilight struggled to hold up the force field as the shadows were eating away at it, the dark crystals pierced through her body.

She could feel her bones shifting and taking form, Twilight turned around. And tearing through her spine… were wings, just as majestic and regal as Princess Celestia.

Twilight couldn’t tell if it was an illusion or reality, the soft gentle feathers warmed her cold stone like skin.

“What do you say, My Jewel? Prevail over Equestria as my Shadow Queen”

“Don’t fall for his mind games, Twilight” Spike wailed into the abyss “please say something Twilight…. Don’t leave me...”
