First Annual Ironstone Invitational

Location: Ironstone - Dallas, Texas
Running: Now - April 15 May 1, 2013 (this will be the last extension)
Pre-registration: Due by March 8, 2013 (closed, do not ask to register!)
Event Type: English
Classes Available: Dressage, Show Jumping, Cross Country, Three-Day Event & The Ironstone Cup Challenge
Restrictions: All breeds allowed - 'powers' may not be used. Classes with five (5) or less entrants will be cancelled.

:new: Going along with the show restrictions, classes with less than five (5) entries sent in will be cancelled. If the ICC is cancelled, entry points will be returned.

Entries - fav.me/d5nr9na

This show will be 100% based on effort and creativity. No extra images are required, nor will extra images count for points. Only one (1) image is required for each class, except the Three-Day Event which will require three (3).
:new: ATTENTION 3-DAY ENTRANTS - Since the deadline is so close, I am allowing your entries to be put into one single image. Yes, this means you don't have to draw three full, separate images. The "catch" is that no less than 2/3 of the horse may be shown, and you still have to draw the jump and background (of course!). No half-body shots or head shots allowed. Remember, this is based on effort!
:new: Dressage, Show Jumping, Cross Country and the Ironstone Cup Challenge are held on the same day. Three Day Eventing begins the same day. A lunch break will be at noon each day (which also means Cross Country will run simultaneously with lunch).

Held during the end of the year, the Ironstone Invitational will have a winter theme. Though not required, including some winter-y creativity will earn you up to five (5) extra points. Just keep in mind the weather when drawing your image.

Ironstone - Dallas, Texas

Located next to Ironstone's east property line sits the premier Ironstone Show Grounds. When Katherin refaced the main Ironstone property after the death of her parents, the facilities made such a profit that she was able to purchase the adjacent level lot. Over the next year the facilities were developed, with Katherin and Dr. Lauper supervising the entire process. When it was finished, the new facilities blended seamlessly with the already existing. The grounds are a lush green, with various colored patches of flowers growing here and there. Fully grown willows were planted here and there. With all traffic areas paved, there is virtually no mud. All arenas are lighted and packed with top-of-the-line footing. There is also plenty of parking for both cars and visitors. Dogs are welcome too, but they must be on a leash! Horses are to be kept off the grass at all times. Click here to view the show grounds map.

- Four outdoor arenas, two with 500 bleacher seating
- Two indoor arenas, 1000 bleacher seats in each
- Grand Prix arena, 3000 bleacher seats, VIP Seating
- 250 permanent MD Barn stalls, collapsible stalls available
- Lighted round pen with sprinkler system
- Separate car and truck/trailer parking
- Bunk house (two story) with pool and dog kennels
- Snack bar located inside bunk house

Two years after the success of Ironstone's show grounds, Katherin made the decision to purchase the property on the other side of the Show Grounds, which also stretched behind the Main and Show Grounds, encompassing the lake as well. The gently rolling hills were perfect for a cross country course. The area is mostly wooded, and every type of jump imaginable was built across the property. A course is indicated for all levels. A separate entrance is provided for Cross Country riders so that one does not have to trek across the entire Ironstone Show Grounds. Vehicles and trailers may be parked there, horses may be stalled, and there are various locations where spectators may watch. There is also a small bunk house where competitors may go to relax or grab a bite to eat.

- Preliminary: X-C fences 3 ft 7 in (1.09 m), 24–28 efforts, ditch 9 ft 2 in (2.79 m), drops 5 ft 3 in (1.60 m), 520 m/min
- Intermediate: X-C fences 3 ft 9 in (1.14 m), 28–32 efforts, ditch 10 ft 6 in (3.20 m), drops 5 ft 11 in (1.80 m), 550 m/min
- Advanced: X-C fences 3 ft 11 in (1.19 m), 32–40 efforts, ditch 11 ft 10 in (3.61 m), drops 6 ft 7 in (2.01 m), 570 m/min
- Separate car and truck/trailer parking
- Permanent MD stalls for Cross Country horses
- Various spectator viewing areas
- Bunk house with restrooms and snack bar

- Location: Held in the outdoor Dressage arena. Fences look like this; three rail side faces the inside of the ring. There are ferns around the base of the letters, and poinsettias in the boxes. Footing is a mixture of sand and rubber (has a brown-gray hue).
- Rider Attire: Black hat or helmet, black or navy coat/shadbelly (stable coats are allowed - i.e. US team wears red coats), white shirt and tie with stock pin (yellow vest with shadbelly), white gloves, white breeches with black belt, black dress boots and spurs. - Horse Tack: All leather tack must be black - Dressage bridle, saddle, girth, white square pad and/or half pad. Boots/wraps, martingales, draw reins etc. are not allowed. Bridles must either have a plain cavesson, drop noseband, or flash noseband. Bits can be either snaffle or double. FAII Show Jumping Course - Descriptions WIP by dyatori
Jump 1 - "The Lone Star" - Square oxer. Standards are a partial circle with a gold star in the middle; one half of the star on each side of the jump. When placed together, the seven poles make up the Texas state flag. The hind standards are simple vertical gold poles, the single jump pole is white. The jump is as wide as it is tall.
Jump 2 - "Ironstone" - Single vertical. Jump is made to look like the Hanoverian brand. The jump is solid white, with each standard being one side of the brand. There are five poles, with the word "Ironstone" as a picket underneath.
Jump 3 - "Christmas Trees" - Ascending oxer. The standards are hidden inside two large Christmas trees. These trees are about twelve feet tall, are strung with white lights, and have a gold star on the top. The poles are made to look like small birch tree trunks. Both sides of the jump have three poles.
Jump 4 - "Candy Canes" - Single vertical. Standards are made to look like giant candy canes. Two candy canes lean to each side, with one holding up the jump poles which are red and white striped. There are five poles total. This jump is slightly more narrow than the others.
Jump 5 - "The LEGO" - Vertical wall. This jump is made to look like a stack of legos, standing similar to a Puissance wall (it's the tallest jump in the course). The standards are the biggest legos, two lay at the bottom of the jump, and smaller ones make up three rows on top of that. The top three rows will fall if hit hard enough.
Jump 6 - "Water Jump" - Open water jump. Total, this jump is about twelve feet. On each side is a stone wall covered with fake snow. A small picket fence (just less than a foot tall) sits in front of the jump, with face snow beneath it as well. Small poinsettia plants line the walls on the outside, with fake snow beneath them.
Jump 7 - "Rainbow" - Single vertical. This jump consists of a plain gold post on the left with a pot of gold underneath, a silvery standard on the right made to look like a cloud, and a large rainbow arching from the cloud to the top of the pot of gold. A single sky/light blue pole stretches across the top.
Jump 8 - "The Handlebar" - Single vertical. The jump is a giant black handlebar mustache. The middle of the mustache is the peak of the jump, with it curling down to reach the ground. Two simple black standards are hidden behind the length of the mustache to hold it up. The middle of the mustache will fall if hit, somewhat like a plank.
Jump 9A/B/C - "Christmas Lights" - Triple combination (vertical, parallel oxer, parallel oxer). First jump is a plain white vertical oxer, but the standards and poles are wrapped with white Christmas lights. Second jump is the same as the first, but a square oxer instead. Third jump, the widest out of the three, is the same as well except it has five large Christmas bulbs underneath (each about a foot and a half tall, colored left to right in red, blue, orange, green, yellow).
Jump 10 - "Rolex" - Triple bar. Your typical Rolex jump, colored in green and gold. The poles are striped with green and gold, and the standards are green with gold around the edges. The jump looks like this 4.bp.blogspot.com/_s0XckXa2zWg… but the standards around surrounded by poinsettia flowers.
Jump 11A/B - "Lights and Wreaths" - Double combination (parallel oxer, vertical). Standards have been made to look like cast iron street lamps (lamp on the right is an example preview.turbosquid.com/Preview…). A large wreath hangs from each lamp, just underneath the lamp light itself. The wreath has a large red and gold bow attached and it looks similar to: quakerrose.com/wp-content/uplo…. Both the lamps and the wreaths will be lighted. The jump poles are black.
Jump 12 - "Sleigh Ride" - Single obstacle. A red sleigh which looks like this www.countrycreations.info/Slei… but lined with gold. The sleigh is built sturdy, just in case a horse were to step into it. It's also pulled by two realistic-looking reindeer posed as if it were leaping into the air, head back. It's harnessing is red with large gold bells.
Jump 13 - "Happy New Year" - Single vertical. A large gold glitter jump. Dozens of LED strands are attached to the top of the standards, which are lit up to make them looks like sparklers. A plank in the shape of the numbers "2013" sits under the front poles; it's colored with black and lined with gold glitter.

- Location: Held in the Grand Prix arena, which is completely enclosed. The arena looks similar to this structure wise, but the arena is more square with seating only on one side. Arena fence is polished cedar planks and five feet (5') high (similar to this, but taller). Lighted garland wraps around the top metal rail (lights are white). Horses enter through the gate near the Dressage arenas, spectators enter through the gate near Warm Up A. When looking at the map, spectator seating is along the west side of the building where the round pen is. Footing is a mixture of sand and rubber (has a brown-gray hue).
- Rider Attire: Black helmet, black, gray or navy coat (stable coats are allowed - i.e. US team wears red coats), white shirt and tie with stock pin, black gloves, white or tan/beige breeches with black belt, and black tall boots. Spurs are optional. Whips are not allowed. Rider hair must be neatly tucked away, under the helmet.
