Literature Text

For all mankind to see the light
Behind the huddled masses, look
To hope out of the stain and blight
Where love and light, at once, forsook
By pilgrim feet, were known to rest.
They dwelt in hearts now cold, recessed.
By pilgrim feet
By pilgrim feet
Are trod the paths of peasants blest.

The old, bent fingers of the sun
Reach out with strength belying years
Of lighting paths for desperate ones
And warms the dark belabored tears.
In brightest sun at noon, find peace,
And all your foolish labors cease!
In brightest sun
In brightest sun
Remains the hope of sweet release!

Oh love, unending, be the tide
And beat the shores of weary lands
Believing not, and, grieving, cried,
Then gave to chains their timeworn hands.
Let love arise once more, regain
The freedom of the once-arraigned.
Let love arise
Let love arise
And free the captive souls beside.
Trijan refrain for DFC day five. For those lost in darkness, for pilgrims, for those who need the Savior.
