Description
The Lautern Air Force gets its fourth plane on my gallery with the Lautern INCIDENT.
Sigh, sigh and sigh some more. The ol´ INCIDENT marked my return to the paused youtube videos for reference sources... and with the quality of the image gone down... well, the results are there for all to see.
The goddamn size and perspective issues are back in full force to haunt me on this post... gaaaaaaah, the "artist-me" just feels like slitting his wrists... or at least demolish a wall with a sledgehammer.
One thing in particular that drives me insane are the INCIDENT´s rudders, they angle up slightly on the bottom, but here they just look like they´re pointing sideways... when oh when am I ever gonna get it right... and I had such a good thing going on after the Sanka Mk. B and the RAINBOW (God bless awesome image sources for awesome planes). But I suppose it could be worse, at least this looks decently like an INCIDENT and looks like it might actually fly straight... right? *nervous laugh*
Well, that´s enough for mishap pointin´, moving on:
Name (codename): INCIDENT
Operator: Lautern Air Force
Type: Fighter/Interceptor
Overview: A twin engine, twin fuselage, swept wing tractor, this fighter, codenamed "INCIDENT" by Rostock intel, is the racehorse of the Lautern Air Force and yet another incarnation of the LAF´s preference of larger, double engined airplanes. Built specifically for speed, the INCIDENT is one of the fastest planes in the sky, also boasting remarkable stability even at top speed. A fighter for the agressive first-strike pilot, the INCIDENT´s oustanding speed makes it perfectly suited for hit-and-run attacks and first-shot-first-kill engagements. That same speed, coupled with its good range, makes this fighter an excellent interceptor versus bombers or other big/slow moving aerial targets. The INCIDENT is not without its shortcomings though, as its very light armor makes it more vulnerable versus other fighters at short range and unsuited for prolonged dogfights and its maneuverability falls pale and finds itself lacking when compared to its speed. A fighter that certainly requires finesse to pilot effectively, the INCIDENT rewards the pilots who fly it with steady aim and a firm hand on the throttle with sure-shot first-hit kills and the right to come home alive at the end of the day.
Notes:
- The INCIDENT is something of a heavily modified design with basis on the Lockheed P-38 Lightning.
- As with most Lautern planes in "Sky Crawlers: Innocent Aces", no INCIDENT´s are seen during the events of the movie, making it likely that it was phased out along with most of its other contemporary designs in favour of newer models like the RAINBOW.
And so another one settles into the gallery ^ ^
