Merry Christmas 2012

I better post this before the world ends (who here seriously believes that Mayan prophecy crap anyways). Whenever I hear this song and hear the line about "to kids from 1 to 92" I always wonder what about babies that are not one year old and old people that are older than 92. Don't you?
Anyways, this year has been a bitch. The company I was working at for 11 years decided to shut its center down in town to consolidate centers. I have been unemployed since the end of June and it has taken a mental toll on me. I was lucky enough to get Commision Approved Training (waiving job searches while going to school) and Training Benefits (extended unemployment to cover an extra 6 months while I go to school. With those programs I have been taking Video Production courses at a local college.
I have always loved goofing around with video. As a kid, my friends and I made Monty Python videos and music videos with their Beta camcorder. When I advanced up on my own and got an 8mm Sony camcorder, some friends and I made our own home movies. Recently, with my hobby of paranormal investigations (yes, ghost hunting like on TV), I have advanced my gear up so I can film the investigations to make sure we can get some credible evidence and put that on disk for our clients.
Over the summer break when I was off from work, I wrote up my own treatment for an investigation in my hometown of Lewiston, Idaho. I planned out my shots, what dialog I wanted to say over the intro scenes and how I wanted the investigation to go. After doing the investigation, I reviewed all the evidence and then took all of the footage and edited them all into a "paranormal TV show". It took me 2 1/2 months to make a one hour show. LOL. Unfortunately, I can't show this anywhere since the people that own the building we investigated didn't know I was making a "show" out of it. The whole project was basically to see if I could shoot my own show and edit it together. It came out pretty good too!

Even though I am cleared for the next 6 months to continue on with school, I might have to quit that and get work due to medical needs and the fact that... I need money. Ugh. So I am in kind of a delima.
Enough ranting. In the midst of all this crap that's been going on, I have managed to get a couple new pieces of art done. One is this Christmas card. Every year, I make my own card to post here as well as give to friends and family. I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year or whatever in the smeg you believe and celebrate.
