Description

Here are some random sketches I did this year. For a variety of reasons I didn’t think these deserved their own deviation, but I wanted to share them with you all the same. I’ll try to get all the credits right, if I miss something please tell me.

“Gonna Fly” Reference: [link]

The collection of dinasours and dragons was done with a student who was crazy about them. We were trying to come up with new kinds of dragons by combining different animals: Rhino+Frog+Bat, Snake+Rabbit, etc. The inked dinosaurs were referenced from an encyclopedia.

Prince Zuko from Avatar the last Airbender—this one has a funny story behind it. My student (not the dragon-crazy one, the comics-crazy one) had been discussing the Avengers and the fact that I liked Loki. We then moved on to Avatar, and decided to draw some fanart. He was going to draw Ang, and asked who I would draw. “Oh, I’ll draw Prince Zuko!” I said gleefully. He looked at me with his hilariously deadpan expression and said, “You have issues, you know.” Yes, yes I do. The reference I used is no longer on dA, but it’s by :icondaestock:.

Red Necklace fanart—as per my issues mentioned above. When I first started listening to this book (Read by the fabulous Tom Hiddleston—swoon!) I totally dug Kaliovsky. Tom’s choice of a Vincent Price-esque voice didn’t help. But he just kept getting more and more evil and icky, and somewhere passed outside my threshold of villain attractiveness. By the time the story was over, I didn’t really want to finish this pic.

Girl from Wolfman—done from the movie.

Group of three masterwork copies of pieces by :iconvyrhelle-vyrl:

Originals:

Once in a while I will come across an artist whose style I so adore I want to make my own art more like theirs. To accomplish this, I pick out some of my favorite pieces of theirs and copy them, much as one would copy a famous painting in a fine art class. This year’s coveted style belongs to *Vyrhelle-VyrL , as do all of these images. I claim absolutely no rights to them, only the wonderful learning experience of working with them.
…although I would desperately like to turn the one on the left into a BlackFrost piece…

Grouping of Girls in Motion on the Right:
References used:
I can’t find the ballerina anywhere on dA… I know it only as figure-13-1306276912.
The archer is supposed to be my D&D character, Visnixia Forgedawn.
