redyour swivel head – now fixated
rouge flush, bruised with pink
your slick lamella glows
from the dying occident:
a halo that crowns your blood-lighted skin
the night hoods and blinks
and i dawn into you
an urgent spate of motility
daggers out your buried volt
harpooning my cardia, my bursa collared
i'm hoisted up like ocean game
and into your ready teeth
shuddering at the thought of words
murdered in each sequent

i hear these words
and something happens
in the yard;
it doesn't fit

i see it squeeze

i feel it fly the smooth

from off your back. it turns
and hides behind the acres,
stock frontiers
of jagged rooftops,
kept far and safe
and free
of me.

i’m staring into its absence

one where
only
its reversal is alive.
it doesn't move or breathe.
the park is wintered over, and i don’t go.

Poem for a MotherWhen I was four
I'd follow you into the bathroom
on sticky feet,
press my little bird hands
into the back pockets of your jeans
while you were washing dishes
at the sink,
babbling on: Mommy, Mommy,
I love you.
Then there was the youth
who played Simon Says
to your aerobic routine.
I took jumps to your steps,
laughing as I tripped,
I wanted to go
where you went
I practiced to be
who you were.
The world split sideways
and I stumbled out
a teen traumatized
by the gory birth.
I'd've sworn you did it to me:
the red plague of my face,
the heartache,
the inexplicable serrating rage,
I beat at you as an extension
of self.
These years are quieter
and the miles between us ache
for your back pockets again,
to be in my adolescent womb,
that dumpy-brown carpeted house
with the over eager rose bushes,
all those rooms where I'd scream
Mommy! I love you!

I Took To Howling With YouI was shy at first, timid in my dealings,
I laced the trap against my throat,
sang sparing, tip-toed
around your poems.
The tone, the slow vibrating
from the shoots of my shoulders
to the gleam of polished talons,
it purred around inside me.
Oh the song, Coyote,
the same resigned call, it
paled before you, swallowed down its insides,
wept.
I took your little hand in my big hand,
flew out towards Crow, and for a while
My Love, there were poems
and the world was enough.
I took to howling with you,
down from the branches, safe
womb of the tree, I spread
dirt between my toes, sang happy,
sang the song of free,
your wild howl, your musk,
I lost the language for
the pain of bird calling.
Do you remember when we realized
Crow would no longer sing
her crooning songs beside us, trill
through a night among us?
She had gone, no longer writing
poems for coyotes or exlovers,
no longer touching out for a girl
beyond the mountain,
and we were suddenly alone, Love,
you and I, alone to sing, to warble,

Autumn AutopsyAs lovers,
we were reckless;
Children
chasing fireflies
in a field of mines.
We traded kisses
and carefree caresses
for shrapnel
and blackened skin.
Short moments
stolen pawned
at the cost
of darker afternoons,
the twilight
of the dying season;
We didn't ask,
we never questioned
the interest
of our expenditures.
I shed my skin
in the Autumn of youth,
peeled back
the viscera and
bared the bone --
Rising up,
a scarecrow of worms
and raw meat,
amongst the stalks
of reddened corn.
Tonight
she clings
to dusty artifacts,
shelved trinkets
and
wrinkled sheets
laden with memories
of decaying potency;
The wisps
rising from the cooling wick
will never be
as sweet as
when the flame
burned brightest.

"You girls need a ride?"
October looked up, letting her eyes stray from the gravel beneath her feet. She had been walking along the highway for so long she had started counting her steps to pass the time, hoping that when she finally looked up she would see civilization. Abigail ran to the truck driver's passenger door, haphazardly pushing past October as if she had never ridden in a vehicle before.
October glared at the driver's soiled clothes, greasy hair, and crooked teeth. She imagined his smell which made her gag uncontrollably. It was as if his unkemptness was setting off red flags in her head: "Never talk to strangers. And never accept rides from hillbilly truck drivers in the middle of nowhere."
"Where are you headed?" Abigail questioned playfully. Even though she was a few years older than October, it seemed to make her more reckless than wise. Before the driver had the chance to wheeze whatever location in Kansas he was headed to, October yanked the sultry temptress to

Love Me Dead
        It's that time once again.
The preparation and planning has been glorious. Though it is the same record I've played over and over for millennia beyond millennia, it is no longer broken. I have managed to ripen the mix and stir until it is an entirely new recipe. As petite and distastefully helpless as this form is, I am still an animal and can enjoy my bestial instincts that allow me to suffer pleasure in my kill.
So unappealing is this fragile form humans bare, however; to pity them is to offer a luxury they do not deserve. Their flaws and weaker forms aside, there is work to be done. One paw upon his chest; my nose to his; a single breath and his soul is mine to harbor.

Beatrix kicked the aging envelopes aside as she attempted to leap across the unwelcoming welcome mat. Her unnatural perfectionism beginning to overwhelm her, she knelt down as she stepped into the house, folding wads of unopened mail beneath her arms. She scoffed angrily

Winter Storms"I know I shouldn't."
Thor stared at the metal grates beneath his feet. His armor had grown heavy since the Avengers' victory against the alien invasion. Now that a war was prevented, he had to face his inner battle. Would he risk losing his brother again?
He sat in the back of the armored hummer provided by S.H.I.E.L.D, ignoring the trace blonde hairs that fell around his face. In a way, he hoped they hid his indecision. He brushed his hand against the side of his chin, relishing in the familiar sound of his stubble scratching his callused palms.
A low, muffled scoff resonated from the other side of the vehicle. Thor leaned back against the vibrating walls of the steel-clad car and stared sorrowfully into two fuming, green eyes. A storm was thundering overhead, causing the hummer to jolt and swerve uncontrollably. Still, it was perhaps the only moment he and Loki would have before facing Odin's judgment. Thor eyed the metallic, vented mask that covered the bottom half of

ResolutionsResolutions
13-1-13
I made my New Year’s Resolution on January 3rd. But we need some back-story.
Suffering from Depression makes life a nightmare; suffering from depression and having a miscarriage makes life Hell on earth. Even though he hadn’t wanted the baby, I had. I became more ‘religious’, promising God things that I would do if he kept my baby safe. And the first time there were blood spots he did.
The second time he did not, and I had to face those dreaded words ‘I don’t see a heartbeat’ and listen to my mother quietly swearing in the office. I had to go through another scan with the same result the next day, just to double-check, and then a D&C the following day – a new type of surgery for my list that sure beats eye operations and a laparoscopy when it comes to the purpose and the outcome.
That was October 3rd, the day my baby died, and October 5th, the day he was removed from me. For three months, until January 3r

The WildThe Wild
13-1-13
Ticklish turtles scream the silliest sounds,
And the flummoxed flamingos are so dragging me down.
Mesmerised mice look for nutritious nuts,
While the handsome hyenas eat the gory guts.
Lions lick loins like curious cats,
While peacocks preen, and majestic monkeys act.
What a wild place; croc's wrestle wildebeest down.

The Only WayThe Only Way
10-1-13
Write me your story no matter how long it becomes;
You have a few years and
A few more worries than I do,
But at the core we are the same.
Write me your story and I will listen as your heart speaks,
For we speak the same language you
And I,
We speak the language of written words
And long-distance hugs.
Write me your story and leave no blank spaces;
Share all your heart holds
For mine can hold it too.
Don’t be shy or coy,
Don’t try to fool the foolish – what
I see and what I hear are two different things
And I know this because I know you.
Write me your story,
And I will write you mine – for
We are forever entwined
The way only friends can be.
