Literature Text

You allowed Ludwig to lead you off the bridge, you following him like a little lost puppy dog. You mind scrambled in a last-ditch attempt to figure out how he had managed to get through to you when no one else could. And why, of all things, would he feel it was his need to keep a random homeless teenager from committing...

Suicide.

That's when it really hit you. You were going to take your own life. You were about to take the cowards way out. Ludwig's words bounced around your head. Whatever it is, it's not worth your life. He had been right. Angry tears flooded your eyes, temporarily blinding your sight, as you realized just how big of a mistake you were planning on making.

Ludwig turned around and looked at you, unsure of how to react to the rampant tears that were flowing down your cheeks. "Are you okay?" he asked after a few moments of hesitation.

You shook your head in the universal symbol for "no", not trusting yourself to speak. Your arms wrapped around your torso, shoulders shaking with barely suppressed sobs. You couldn't believe that you would even think of that. What would your family have thought? You must have lived for a reason! ...right? There had to be a reason you were the one who survived...

Ludwig hesitantly places a hand on your shoulder, expression remaining unsure. "It vill be okay _______. It vill get better."

In a desperate need for comfort, you launched yourself at Ludwig, arms winding around his waist. You buried your face into the fabric of his turtleneck, gasping sobs were being swallowed up by the soft fabric as they clawed their way out of your body. Tears were quickly absorbed by the fabric as they fell in what seemed like never-ending rivers, but you couldn't bring yourself to care. Your family was dead, and this strange man was the only one who had offered any form of real comfort since you had found out the news, and you'd be damned if you let that go so soon.

Ludwig had stiffened when the hug had been initiated, but slowly he relaxed, letting you cry on his shoulder for the time being. His arms hesitantly moved to hold you closer and reciprocate the hug.

After a few minutes, when you had successfully managed to calm down to the point where you could speak, you withdrew yourself from Ludwig's grasp, hand swiping at a stray tear on your cheek. Realizing what you had done, your cheeks flooded with an embarrassed blush. "I'm sorry about that," you whispered.

Ludwig looked even more uncomfortable then he had before. "It's okay, you did nothing wrong. Come on, lets get you something to drink."

As if on cue, your stomach grumbled instinctively. Ludwig's lips pulled upwards into a ghost of a smile. "Vould you like some food too?"

"Oh, no, really, I don't want to be a bother!" you stammered out, unsure of how to respond to the unexpected proposition.

"Nein, it is no trouble. Lets find somewhere good to eat, and you can explain to me why you were up there on that bridge. Vhere do you vant to go?"

Well, it looked like you didn't have much of a choice as to whether or not you were actually going. So you did the only thing you could do: you gave him an answer, "Um, how about __[favorite restaurant]__?"

Ludwig didn't reply, he simply started walking, and somehow you felt compelled to follow, so you did.
My goodness, you people are wonderful! I was shocked at the response the first chapter received, so here is chapter 2!

Thank you all so much!
