I like this image, but I've always felt there was something wrong about it. I finally figured it out.
Samurai carry two swords, as shown. However, one of them is short. It's called "the short sword" (or, if you're evil like me, "the *other* short sword."
The long one is for chopping up opponents and beheading guys who've committed seppuku. The short sword is when *you* want to commit seppuku (instructions here, in case you've got a(nother) short sword and are feeling the call of bushido).
I feel sorry for the poor guy who has to clean up afterwards. It can't be pleasant (though I guess it wasn't so great for the guy who did it, either).
