Hello all, we hope that everyone has started the new year well and we are looking forward to what the rest of the year has in store for us all. As mentioned last month in our update we were going to have a look at the mutant gene rule and how we could better suit our members with their needs. After much discussion we have decided to open a folder specifically for equines which would fall under the mutant gene rule. This means you will now be able to submit your naturally colored horses with no other fantasy elements, yet have impossible markings. In order to keep the focus of the group on the fantasy aspect it was originally founded on, we will only allow limited submissions (5) per user to the Mutant Gene folder per month.

Fancy-MustacheThank you for allowing us to interview you, to start how about you introduce yourself.Hello! My name is Andrea. I am 24 years old. I love drawing mostly digitally but I also do some traditional and photography as well.
How old were you when you first started drawing?I don't remember an exact age but I always remember when I was younger (grade school), watching my grandpa doodling and sketching and such and I found it fascinating. Eventually, he gave me my first sketch book! Which I still have to this day. Gives me good memories of him
What drives you to continue drawing?Well, I am always trying to better myself at it. Defining my style to trying out new techniques that I have found. It is something that I love to do and I will always love to do. It is also my go to place when I am stressed about life. It relaxes me.
Where did your love for equine art come from?My first "How to draw" book was horses from when I was in the Fourth Grade. Since then I have been hooked! People were always sick of seeing me draw horses so I stopped for a bit until High School It wasn't until I stumbled upon DA when I found others who loved them just as much as I did and picked it back up again. Looking back, I wish I never stopped!
Do you have any tips for other aspiring artists?I know people hear this all the time but it is the truth! PRACTICE! You can't expect to get better at something if you don't! Also, draw for yourself! Don't get sucked into drawing stuff you dislike only because you get more feedback from it.
