Description

Six on the second hand
Two New Year's resolutions
And there's just no question
What this man should do

Take all the time lost
All the days that I cost
Take what I took and
Give it back to you

All this time
We were waiting for each other
All this time
I was waiting for you

We got all these words
Can't waste them on another
So I'm straight in a straight line
Running back to you

-OneRepublic, "All This Time"

:music:Listen to the song here!

This deviation has a nice story to go along with it—as in the story of making it and finding a title.

First off, making it:
After The Witch and Her Magic Quartz I was ready for another composite. So I searched for models for some inspiration. (This is how a composite begins for me) Once I find the model that gives me the proper inspiration, I go searching for a background to match my vision and my inspiration. Once I find a suitable background, I look for any additional models, props or whatever. Then I start to put it all together. Once those are together, based on what I've created, I look for any additional textures, images or whatever I might need. And I go on from there.

In the case of this deviation, I originally found this model. To me, it looks like something bad has just happened to her and she's trying to forget it. Of course, this is questionable because her hand is covering half her face. So anyway, I immediately thought Breakup Scene! and began searching for her male companion. (Don't worry, it's nothing dirty or nude) I eventually found this guy. Then I went to look for a background and found one—the one I ended up with. :above: Along the way of searching for a "romantic," "love-filled" background, I found these. I honestly didn't know why they were in the background category; they looked more like textures to me. I ended up using them in the final product as textures and they make for some GREAT textures (if they actually were textures).

So anyway, I put the female model, the male model, and the background together, and it looked OK—I guess. But then, all of a sudden, the girl didn't match. The guy is looking really emotional and she just doesn't match. She didn't display enough to sell it to me. So I scrapped her and went to look for a different female model. I found the one I ended up with. I put her in with the guy and with some minor changes, it looked great! (There were some other things that needed some fixing, but they don't matter, so I won't tell.)

After that, I added one of the "textures wanna-be backgrounds." But there was still something missing. I needed a prop, so I searched "love" in the objects category of dA's stock images. I found this. I liked it, and I thought it would work well for what I wanted. But the angle was a little weird if my guy was gonna be holding it in his conveniently empty, open hand. Luckily, this was one of those "series" photos, so I simply found another image in the series that had the angle I wanted. That was the image in the final product. :above: It looked great. It was actually more than perfect: I thought it would turn the scene into one of those we're-gonna-remember-this-forever-because-of-this-object type scenes. I love those type of scenes, by the way. I always marvel at how filmmakers and authors are able to turn simple, everyday items into tools of story-telling and memories.

Anyway, after that, I added another one of the "textures wanna-be backgrounds," and it all seemed complete. I was done. :)

Next, naming it and finding the matching song:
Originally, I wanted to call it I Give You Time. I thought it was great at first, but I quickly realized that it was actually really lame. Plus, it was kind of "forcing the story" a little bit, if that makes sense. I want the viewer to forge a story for themselves; I only provide the inspiration. Anyway, I asked my mom what she thought it should be called. I made sure she noticed the clock, since it was—in my mind—really important to the scene. First, she thought it looked like he was proposing, but again, I reminded her that he was holding an alarm clock—not a ring. Finally, she came up with "It's Time." I also thought that was perfect at the time.

After that, I went to bed. I was proud of my work, and I was happy with the title. I have trouble sleeping, so I normally listen to my iPod to try to fall asleep. I turned my iPod on to shuffle and set my iHome to sleep. The first song—or one very near it—was All This Time by OneRepublic. I love OneRepublic, by the way. Speaking of music, this is a great way for you to learn about what kind of music I listen to. I've made other deviations that have matching songs. Check them out: [link] [link] [link]

Sorry, I had to say that at some point in time. Anyway, as I was listening to the song and thinking about my new composite, I realized: hmmm... All This Time. good title for my new composite. The next day after school, after a shower and after I finished my homework, I did a little more "research" on the song. I listened to the song while reading the lyrics. Listening to the song at night, I only comprehended the first couple lines. But as I was reading the lyrics while the song was playing, I realized: What a great story this is! I didn't know whether the viewer would actually be thinking that that's the story I was trying to tell through my image, but man, what a great story!

So that's how the title came to be.

But there are still some other things that I wonder about:
I wanted the girl to be happy. And yes, she is smiling, but very very faintly. You'd have to zoom in really far to see it and even then her smile still isn't big enough! I tried to fix this. I tried to use parts of her already-existing smile, I tried to use a smile from another image, but it all just looked like crap. So I left it. :(

You know what's cool about this entire thing? I never planned for it to be a love scene. I actually originally intended it to be a breakup scene—the exact opposite of a love scene! But it came out as a love scene! You know what else is even weirder? Valentine's Day is coming up. And I didn't plan for this at all. OK, admittedly, when I first saw the vision as a breakup scene I thought OK, that's weird. Everyone's doing lovey-dovey stuff for Valentine's Day and here I'm doing a breakup scene Of course, it didn't turn out that way, but you can still say I didn't plan for it to be celebrating Valentine's Day. OK, maybe I did plan it to be celebrating Valentine's Day and I didn't really realize it...? But you can still call this my OFFICIAL DEVIATION IN CELEBRATION OF VALENTINE'S DAY.

I Hope you all love it as much as I do! :P

EDIT:
I did it! I fixed her smile! Yay!!!!
