                               ~Parental Unit pt. 6~

          'Zim?? C-Could it be? N-No... I-It cant! It just can't be possible, how can Zim even have a child!? How can he reproduce? So many questions. I just couldn't believe it, b-but if Zim is the mother then... w-who is the father? Oh geez, this isn't looking too good for me.'

"So... uh Zap, right? I was wondering, who is your dad?" Dib asked nervously.

Seeing Zap frown once again, he sighed and took out an envelope from what seems to be his PAK, a PAK very similar to Zim's but instead the color on it isn't pink, but instead it's blue.

The little green boy got off the couch and walked toward me, handing me a letter what seems to be.

I raised an eyebrow at it, confused of what it could be. "Who is this from?" I questioned the sad child.

Zap slowly walked back to the couch and climbed back on top of it since he was too short to just sit down regularly. He looked straight at me with those eyes and I could tell he was trying to hold in his tears.

"My mama.." Zap answered shortly.

I couldn't help but sigh. It was from Zim, even though I didn't like Zim I still needed to read this for the sake of his child. I opened the envelope slowly and pulled out the letter from inside it. It had a bunch of writing on it and the ink looked pretty smudged as if Zim was crying when he wrote this. This sounds serious then...

I started to read the letter but out loud so the little boy could hear it as well. "Dear Dib-human, I know you may be still furious with Zim because of how badly I treated you but Zim wanted to tell you that I never lied about the pregnancy. I have a 4 year old boy, and guess what Diblet, this boy is your son. I'm writing this to you because Zim has only a few days until he is dead. I've caught a rare irken disease and once I died I didn't want Zap to live alone or with Gaz, so Zim decided why not live with his father-unit instead! This would be good for our son to finally meet you. I got your address by your sister so don't start hating again, human. Zap needs you, he needs a parent, he's a very gentle kid, it be very kind if you took care of him for me. I know you never had a real father so please, just be a good father to this boy. He's very curious in life. Zap has a few learning disabilities and don't let him run too much, he has asthma. Everything Zap has is in a list in his PAK. I know you'll be a good father to our smeet, and before I stop writing I want to tell you... Dib-human, I'm sorry, I'm very sorry for making your life bad when you lived with me... It was only because I was pregnant and well you know... hormones. I still love you so dearly, I love you a lot Dib, I only wished that I could have seen you one last time before I die. All I hope for you is to raise our son and remember, give him lots of love like how you wanted your father to give you. I know you'll do great. Good bye Dib Membrane... I love you, the both of you, Zap and Dib. Sincerely, your mate Zim."

Dib pinched the center of his face and groaned. He had tears in his eyes after he read the letter. "Oh... my... god. What have I done!? SHIT! I ruined my relationship! I'm so stupid!" He cried out, gripping at his hair angrily then looked at Zap who was looking at his father, scared. "Zap... I know I haven't been around your whole life... but I want to make it up to you. I know I've been a terrible person to your mother but I want to start being a kinder person to him... and well... I want to start being a good father, and I promise I'll love you forever and ever. I'm not going to let you go like I did with Zim, this time it'll be different."

Zap rushed off the couch and ran to Dib, he hugged Dib tight and smiled. "Daddy!" He smiled with teary eyes.

Dib cried as well and held his son for the first time, stroking back his hair happily. "Son, I will be the best father in your life, and I'll never be too busy for you, I swear." Dib said and kissed his son's head. He got up and held Zap's hand. "Come, I'll help you set up your new room." Dib smiled down at Zap.

Zap looked up at Dib and smiled as well. He followed Dib up the stairs and down the hallway, entering an empty room with a big window.

"Well, here's your room. Don't worry, it'll look much better once we add color to the walls and a bed, and furniture." Djb said.

Zap looked down then walked over to the center of his room. He took out his tiny luggage from his PAK and also a tiny bed. Zap also took out his shrink ray from his PAK and turned the switch to 'unshrink'. Zap unshrunk the bed and luggage and turned to face Dib and smiled shyly. "Mama gave me this so I wouldn't have to carry really big things." He said innocently and put the shrink ray back in his PAK.

Dib chuckled a bit. Honestly, the kid was just so adorable, you can't ever frown around him. "Zim made that?" He asked.

Zap nodded and stayed quiet.

Dib rubbed his shoulder  knowing it wouldn't be good to remind the kid of his dead mother. "Um... S-So uh... You hungry?" Dib asked, wanting to change the subject.

Zap stayed silent and nodded weakly.

Dib sighed and held Zap's hand. "We'll order pizza. You like pizza Zap?"

Zap looked up at Dib and smiled a little. "I-I... I love pizza." He said calmly.

Dib smiled at him and pet the boy's head. "Great, and how about dessert? You want an ice cream sundae after?"

"Please?" Zap smiled and blushed. "I love ice cream too."

Dib laughed a little and picked Zap up in his arms and smiled at him. "There's the smile. Alright, lets order pizza." He said.

Zap rested his head on Dib's shoulder and closed his eyes for a bit.

Dib took Zap back down stairs and sat him on the couch. Dib turned the t.v on and gave Zap the control. "Alright, watch whatever you want as long as its for kids. I'll be in the kitchen ordering the pizza." Dib said and walked away.

Zap watched as Dib left and turned his head to face the television. He changed the channel to a cartoon show of a bunny and a duck living in a house together. "I love this show." He smiled and found his bear next to him. "Teddy!" Zap smiled and hugged his bear. "I'm sorry I left you here all alone, but now we're together again. Ooh, we have our own room again, it's beautiful. Daddy is also gonna buy us pizza, I'm so excited!" He giggled and held his bear close. "I wonder how mama is doing... he must be in a better place now... Mm... I miss him." Zap sighed and continued to watch t.v casually, waiting for his father to finish his call and join him at watching t.v together like a real family.

Dib on the other hand was a very busy scientist but he didn't want to ruin the moment. A smile spread across Dib's face as he held a small picture of Zim in his hand. Dib sighed heavily as he looked through the window of his study room.

"Oh Zim... If your watching, I want you to know that Zap Membrane is in safe hands. This kid is something special, and hopefully I'll understand how to be a real parent to this boy since he never had a father in his life. Rest Easy... Zim Membrane."
