Literature Text

The girl sat there on the piano bench, tracing her fingers over the keys, leaving a trail in the accumulating dust.  No one had touched it...
Sighing, she blew on the keys, creating a small cloud of dust, before she seated herself rightly on the bench, flexing her fingers back and forth.
He had loved the piano, and taught her how to play a song he loved dearly.  Something one of his family members had taught him...

She tapped a few keys, surprised the piano was still in perfect tune, before clearing her throat and tucked some brunette hair behind her ear and taking her glasses off.
She pulled up the memories, running her fingers along the keys and pressing them down, making music.  It was off sync at first, but she eventually made it work, her fingers and hands dancing on the keys.  After a while, she focused on the lyrics, the sad tone of it, and it was fitting.

Oh how she missed him.  His black hair, shining off blue when light hit it, as well as the streak of white inside it.  His demonic wings and tail, and his pale pale skin that never tanned.  Not even while out in the New Orleans sun...

She sang the notes, her alto voice dipping low into tenor and bass, and she remained unaware of anything else, playing the song.  Learning the piano was something fabulous, but he only had taught her a few songs, most of them being mainstream things.  Then there was this one, that just in itself sounded sad.
"I'm afraid... That these words can never reach you again.  But at the very least, I wish you can hear it.  The voices falling like a gentle rain.  Ah, fluttering, fluttering, fluttering"  She sang, her voice hitching every once in a while, as she reached the end of the song and her fingers loitered over the piano keys.
Eventually she let out her breath in a sigh, staring out the window.  No amount of crying or reminiscing was going to bring him back, she knew that.  He was gone as gone could be.  Humans tended to make those things possible, she mused with a rueful twitch of the corners of her mouth and she didn't even notice drops of moisture landing on the keys.
"I miss you, you know..."  She said quietly, voice sore from singing after so long.  "I miss you so much."
She stood up and walked out of the room, right past her friend who had been standing in the doorway and listening.
No amount of grief could bring him back, she argued with herself as she bit her lip and twisted the ring on her left hand, no amount of wishful thinking could put her in his embrace again.
