Personality: Random, hyper, upbeat, optimistic, stubborn, short-tempered, impatient, brash, childish, dense in some situations, and an extreme otaku.
History: When Yoko was six she was almost hit by a car but was saved by her mother. Everyone survived, but Yoko got fairly badly injured while her mother fell into a coma which she still has yet to wake up from. Her father, who had been just out of the way and literally hadn't gotten a scratch, blamed himself for not doing more to protect his family and became a severe workaholic in order to ignore his own pain, never even stopping to really comfort his own equally if not more upset young daughter. Too afraid to face her especially as she grew up and began to resemble her mother more and more, he began to avoid her completely, even going so far as to only come home when she was out or fast asleep. Instead, Yoko was taken care of by some kindly neighbors who had heard about the accident and pitched in to help, taking turns cooking for her and giving her their own children's hand-me-downs until she turned 13 when she decided she couldn't mooch off the kindness of others anymore and instead learned to be self sufficient with her father taking care of any money issues.

Yoko first met Takao in passing literally just before she was almost hit by the car. They then met a second time when she was in the hospital and Takao came to visit with his grandpa as both of them had seen the accident and had wondered about what had happened to her. Having seen his beyblade in passing, she asked him about it and he introduced the game to her, causing her to buy one of her own almost as soon as she left the hospital. Not really good at the sport, she mostly only played with Takao, watching him <nobr>play</nobr> any other kids instead as she was afraid of being teased when she lost. Then, when she was eight she was playing hide-and-go-seek with Takao and a few other kids in the forest and decided to hide in a mysterious shrine. Once inside, she was almost immediately spooked by a loud noise, causing her to accidentally knock over a kitsune statue that has housed Mio inside it, letting the spirit free. Startled, the young girl threw her beyblade at her "attacker" in the hopes of knocking him out, trapping Mio inside it. Although technically trapped against her will, however, Mio eventually grew to admire her "mistress", even if she would never admit that.
