I noticed that some of you work in small sizes when doing a photo manipulation. Of course working in small size is easier to cut corners, but most of the time it looks unfinished. You should try working at a higher resolution with high res stocks. It is more challenging to blend elements and to go over each detail. It also allows you to print your work in great quality afterward. My works are always higher than 4000 px width or height depending of the orientation. I resize down a jpg version before uploading to dA. Another tip, use the pen tool for cutting. Nothing really compares to that tool when it's time to perfectly cut something from a photo.
Now, time for a long overdue feature of some of my friends!
