Description

This is the basic pattern for all the biscornu

I have only included the fire biscornu main pattern as I used the same pattern for all of the elements - just with different colours. The different corner backstitch patterns I have added to the side with the colours of the biscornu so you can see what the colour placement is and how to make the back stitch area. While playing around with idea's I also came up with a couple of more possible corner bits and to give you more options I have included them - these are the ones in brown. Basically once you have done the central area you can pick any of the corners to do for your biscornu :)

Stats:
Size of embroidery before being sewn: 2 1/4" / 5,75 cm square
Size of each completed biscornu 1 1/2" / 4 cm square
Fabric: 18 ct Aida

The water side:
Colours used: 712 (cream), 800 (light blue), 798 (medium blue) and 820 (darkest blue)
Total number of cross stitches: 620
Total number of backstitches: 308

The fire side:
Colours used: white, 973 (yellow), 947 (orange) and 666 (red)
Total number of cross stitches: 644
Total number of backstitches: 308

I used DMC 154 (purple) to join the sides together to make the fire and water biscornu

The Air side:
Colours used: ecru, 3753 (light blue), 932 (slightly darker blue) and 931 (darkest blue)
Total number of cross stitches: 632
Total number of backstitches: 488

The Earth side:
Colours used: 722 (lightest green), 703 (light green), 701 (slightly darker green) and 699 (darkest green)
Total number of cross stitches: 632
Total number of backstitches: 404

I used DMC 931 (darkest blue) to join the sides together to make the earth and air biscornu

Lovely! I bet this would work well as a seed bead pattern too! I may have to try it in my new bead loom.
