Over 1300 years ago in this world, legend has it that the renowned Enno Gyouja -Ozunu- proclaimed since his birth, "I were sent from Heaven to redeem humanity."
Soon after, having mastered the art of controlling the Guardian Spirits, young Ozunu declared, "In order to assist my task of exorcism and fighting against the forces of evil, I've come to harness the power of the Almighty Warrior Gods."

There is no doubt that the great Enno Ozunu existed, but he can scarcely be found in Japanese history books. Almost the entirety of his life is contained in legends, each of which differs from every other in some way. As a result, any material that claims it has covered the entire life of the great Bodhisattva of Japan is simply an overstatement. With that said, you'll only learn about the MOST RELEVANT events/details of his life that link to KDZ story in one way or another... during our quest.
Ozunu-sama was conferred the honorary title of En no Gyouja a.k.a "The Ascetic En". In spite of his Buddhist upbringing within the family of the Kamo where he belonged, Ozunu sought to become a Yamabushi [Mountain Priest] and established his Shugendou [Path of Training & Testing] Religion. He is revered as the Miraculous Great Bodhisattva of Japan - one who puts off attaining Nirvana in order to help others on the path to enlightenment.

I hope it's all clear now to you guys that the RIGHT SPELLING of the name of the great Bodhisattva of Japan -- 役小角 (( えんの おづぬ )) -- is "Enno OZUNU", not Ozuno or Ozune as mistakenly translated in KDZ Anime (both sub + dub), which has substantially become the MOST WIDESPREAD error existing among KDZ fans and KDZ-relevant material over the years but NOBODY bothered to correct it. The hard-subtitles of the first screenshot is left unerased on purpose.
Also, I'd like to remind you of TWO important facts regarding KDZ series, once again:
- 1200 years is referred ONLY to the age of the Enno Shrine and the Guardian Village calculated from the year they were built in commemoration of the great Bodhisattva Ozunu in the past up to the setting of KDZ story in 1993.
- The legend of Enno Ozunu & his two Warrior Gods started in the year 672 AD, and so... exactly 1321 years have past before Enno Chiaki becomes the NEW Master of Zenki & Goki in 1993 (KDZ setting). That's why the following term "Over 1300 years ago..." or "1300+ years" will be used frequently in my articles to cover said time-span.
