TRDL 2013 Series, No. 19 - Vanguard [TRDL Redesign]
This piece was done for the TRDL OC Art Swap, this round between me and longtime collaborating artist and R3 member Darren Taylor
. His character Vanguard, a childhood favorite design. He gave me his blessing to redesign, so I gave it a whack. I tried to keep some of the primary design cues intact, such as the curlies by the eyes, the general color scheme, the use of high shoulder flares and the V's in the gloves, while bringing in some armor. Hope I did it justice! You can see Darren's original piece in the process notes below, as well as my progress shots.

I still love this design. I keep thinking bird motif, but that may be because the color scheme matches DC's Hawk.
