Divine Blood Minor-Races Civilians Set 1

Since has dropped out of the project, I'm restarting the art for the non-human races.

This set, going left to right is:

Male Therianthrope Accountant
Female Raven/Harpy Music Student
Succubus Nurse
Dryad Soccer Mom
Male Jurougumo Doctor

Therianthropes descend from wolves that evolved to shapechange and mimic humans. However, there is a lot of intermixed human-therianthrope DNA now. Also, some therianthrope families "learned" new animal forms and "forgot" the wolf form. Normally the therianthrope's animal form looks very much like a normal animal of that type whether wolf, cat, shark, bear or other. Regardless of what animal they turn into, therianthropes genetically match up most closely with wolves. Therianthropes are probably the absolutely most successful minor race. There are at least 200,000 of them world wide, possibly more, and their "natural" forms are pretty much indistinguishable from human. Also, given some of their instincts, they often stand out as some of the more respectable and normal people of their neighborhoods. They cheat on lovers less often than other races, and their pack attitude tends to lead them to make an effort to fit in wherever they live. They evolved to mimic humans and share in the kill and they have done so wonderfully.

Therianthrope life-force is orange and referred to as "Spirit".

Ravens are a recently evolved species, come from a mix of similar species from around the world. Tengu, stormcrows, harpies and other species interbred to become the modern raven which goes back about 1000 years. They are instinctively polyandric (the women prefer to have multiple male partners) and very much enjoy music. Ravens thrive under the protection of Psyche for the most part but would dearly love to be able to mix with humanity on a normal, everyday basis. (From the female raven perspective, the concept of the horny-year-round male is very appealing) There are around 40,000 ravens in the world, mostly living in small communities within a larger Community area.

Raven life-force is purple and referred to as "Auspice".

Succubi are thought by most to be extinct due to the "Purges" committed by certain elements of the Yomi and Nirvana governments. Recently colonies outside Earth have been discovered secretly by the US Navy and they've been filtering back into Earth's population as a result. They primarily only appear in New England. They do not feed on people during sex, but a high emotional state amps their empathic and biokinetic abilities. The pictured succubus probably uses her biokinetic abilities side-by-side with her nurse's training. Succubi are 100% female and due to their abilities can reproduce with any other individual regardless of gender even lack there-of. Their biokinetic abilities allow them to control much about the way their offspring turn out, including race, so their bloodline stays relatively pure. Over the course of their childhood, succubi alter their own genetics so that their body closely matches the emotional ideal of the people around them. Contrary to myth and legend, they are not universally sexual creatures, in fact, they are rarely actually physically ready for sex before the age of 25, though they have an initial false-puberty in the teens evolved as a way of better fitting in among humans. There are maybe six thousand succubi on Earth now most employed in various non-combat positions via the Navy's Socrates Group organization.

Succubus life force is yellow and referred to as "Essence".

Dryads are not born, they are the result of a parasitic infection that replaces the nervous system and consumes the victim's lifeforce down to it's minimal levels. Dryads are essentially cripples physically and psychically, on average having the strength of a 12 year old girl and having no psychic capability at all. For example, a therianthrope that accidentally ate a dryad fruit and survived the infection to become a dryad would no longer be able to shape change into an animal form. They are incidental immortals, not aging, rarely catching disease and they are considered probably the most beautiful females in the world. Outside the psychic population, the fact of the apparent health and vitality of the dryads keeps most people from viewing them as handicapped in any way, but in general, most psychics and nonhumans regard being a dryad as a fate worse than death. Dryad children are often paragons and prodigies of some skills and talents, however sometimes they are also twisted or deformed in some way, mentally or physically. Some of those infected resist the transformation and also survive, these are referred to as "oreads". There is no distinction between an oread and the race they were before, it is considered a condition not a full species change as with dryads. Being an oread provides a secondary well of life-force (mimicing a God's mana) and the same incidental immortality as a dryad, but no other effects. There are only about 1000 dryads and 12 oreads in the world presently.

Dryads are unable to manifest visible life-force. Life-force site reveals they have a sort of pale brownish-blue life force that is barely present. There is no word for this life-force.

Jurougumo are descended from spiders and have ancestors in common with the chiang shih. However, the jurougumo are very slowly being absorbed into the human genetic pool similar to what happened to the naga thousands of years ago (they keep marrying humans and their bloodline keeps diluting). They have less versatile but stronger biokinetic capabilities to the succubus, focusing on the creation of poisons which can be worked into the creation of some medicines. The black spots over their obvious eyes are another set of insectile eyes. These usually go unnoticed. Jurougumo are occasionally born as natural shape-changers, often being able to take on the form of a spider, or things less drastic such as taking on multiple limbs. There are roughly 40,000 jurougumo in the world, mostly in Japan, but some in Japanese heavy communities and Communities around the world.

Jurougumo life-force is currently a greenish yellow and referred to as Seimei. It gets greener every generation.

Aside from the Harpy, all of these characters can fairly easily pass for human. The therianthrope, admittedly has the easiest time since the only tell he has is that his hair was probably always that grey color and his wolf-form is likely equally colored.

There will be a set of non-civilian types for these races as well, but that will come later. Want to get civilian versions of each of the races out first.
