We interviewed Sean this month on his very sexy and funny character, Lana

Gunsexy"
Congrads on your awesome character and self published comic series "Spying with Lana” a very humorous 1970’s esque espionage spoof that features a sexy femme fatale that seems to get herself in and out of danger using her, “feminine assets”

Sean H:
Thank you for featuring my work! Gunsexy is one of my favorite groups on dA, and I appreciate you taking the time to talk about my stuff!

GS
The character Lana appears to influenced by several Femme Fatale from pop culture including Bond Girls , Charlie’s Angels, and even a hint of Drunna and Danger Girl

SH
Modesty Blaise was one of the comics that got me thinking in that direction. I really liked Romero's art, and I thought the concept was cool so I read a lot of those. I'm a big fan of Paolo Serpieri's art and I think J. Scott Campbell is great, too, so Druuna and Danger Girl would certainly apply.

GS
Where does your inspiration for the Spying with Lana series come from ?

SH
I've always liked the glamorous spy/adventure genre; things like James Bond and Modesty Blaise especially. I thought it would be a fun idea to try myself, and do sort of a humorous satire of a glamorous spy whose missions never quite turn out to be as glamorous as she hopes.

GS
Lana herself to my eyes reminds me of singer Katy Perry, along with Lana Wood
is there an actress or model that is your muse?

SH
There's no one person that really inspired Lana's look, although if Katy Perry were to suddenly decide drop everything and star in a Spying with Lana movie I wouldn't say no (although the flying pigs might be a bit inconvenient).

GS
Your art history, are you formally trained or self taught ?

SH
Self taught.

GS
Tool of your craft such as PhotoShop, DAZ, Poser etc ?

SH
I draw the pages in pencil on cardstock, then scan them into Photoshop where I color everything. The backgrounds are 3D rendered in Bryce 7 and integrated into the pictures in Photoshop (because I hate drawing backgrounds).

GS
Who is your favorite comic artist ?

SH
Lots! Travis Charest, Serpieri, Sergio Toppi, Frazetta, Bisley, Masamune Shirow, Shunya Yamashita, Massimiliano Frezzato, Juan Gimenez, Horacio Altuna and a bunch of others I can't remember now....

GS
Who is your action movie director/producer ?

SH
Probably Luc Besson. His movies are quite exciting despite not making much sense. Just like Spying with Lana!

GS
Any pressure, being the lead female character from the spy series “Archer” is also
named “Lana” ?

SH
No, Spying with Lana was running before Archer started, and will hopefully be running long after Archer is over, so it doesn't bother me. Besides, how can they compete with the big Katy Perry blockbuster movie that Spying with Lana has in the works?*

*It could happen. Maybe. Possibly. Almost.

GS
Last Question Any advise for those wishing to self publish their own comic book
Series ?

SH
Do it! It's easy! Okay, it's not easy, but it's possible and you can't succeed if you never try. My advice would be to start with e-books (since there's no printing cost to sell them) and print-on-demand (Ka-Blam is a good service for that). If you keep your expenses low that way, you can build an audience and make some money so you can do bigger print runs later.
Oh yeah, and do the sort of comic that you'd want to read yourself. If you don't, who will?
