WSB Quality in Color Show staring Merrylegs BR

For the main event of this competition, we felt that Merrylegs just HAD to try for the barrel racing. We had been working with her on that for some time since we got her, and we felt now would be the best time to see if she had what it took to make it. I saddled on Merrylegs, we both waited just within a colored gate. Waiting for that whistle to blow. Her ears pushed forward. Not quite sure what was about to happen, but perhaps she had somewhat of an idea. After all, we had trained her a bit before. Calm as ever, the spotted woodlander mare waited patiently. I on the other hand was holding back from having a bit of a panic. This was going to be quite the challenge. It was not often that I did barrel racing in front of a crowd. Obviously that was something I was going to have to conquer if I wanted to be at my best. But, I did feel rather soothed knowing how to handle Merrylegs. She'd not let me down. The buzzer went off, and the gate flung open. I kicked and urged Merrylegs to fly over the dirt. Pushing her onward towards the first barrel. Tugging the reins to cause her to turn sharply around it. Then kicking and urging her to the next one. Doing the same with that one as well. Though the mare was doing all the work, I felt myself sweating. We continued forth, working our way about the course and then once we cleared the last one and forced her to charge over towards the finish line.
