The idea is communicated fairly well. The contrast could be a little less, and I would make it darker overall, because the brightly lit area below the eye is somewhat distracting. I would probably use the healing tool in Photoshop Elements, or clone in color mode (in Photoshop) to hide the speckles from the mascara under the eye.
