"Once the prince had punished his wife and her daughter as the Rose Maiden requested, she began to live as the kingdom princess, with the prince - now the new king. They grew fond of each other over time, enjoying each other's company as they spent every moment together.
The king was content with all he had, but the Rose Maiden always wanted more. She learned how to coax the king into doing anything she asked of him, no matter how grim or ridiculous the request. The maiden soon became a spoiled princess who demanded that her every need be met, and those who could not fulfil her wishes were to be burned and disfigured as she was years ago. She became madly possessive of the king, always fearing that others might come to take him and his power away from her.
As her heart became more and more ugly, the rose on her forehead grew more and more disgusting. A wild thorny thicket began to slowly grow over her face..."

Eh, this was a really sketchy ref I gave to my event partners for our upcoming collab ;u;
Thought I would do a better job with this version of the outfit later, but with assignments and all piling up... eh thought I'd post this one anyway. Don't think I'll have time to contribute a better one.

So basically under the unfortunate influence of the mysterious ingredient, Kes' mind is no longer that of an innocent child but a scheming little prince faking sweet. He has also become incredibly possessive of his dates… Think of "rotten" in all it's different meanings ;u; his outfit is deteriorating and getting stains, the roses on his head grow out of control over (maybe into) his eye and seem to sprout more thorns and are rotting as well. They're on the verge of being too heavy for Kes to keep his head straight up. The crossover to zombie-like with the decaying cheek and all is probably not very obvious here (nor is it really a major thing anyway).

The story up there is my personal extension of the original tale with the dark(er) twist (with the original gender of the character ie female). I would like to mention first and foremost that the Rose Maiden actually requested that her aunt and cousin be burned in return for disfiguring her, so this line of thought for the twisted version was quite logical to me.

Um, enjoy it, cos I sure had a lot of fun doodling this small thing XD
