Description

Introducing two new dragons to Fort Dream Drifter. Elara and Regulus. I put a bit more thought into the names as I wanted them to sound kind of... Space-y as, y'know, they are Luna Dragons.

Breed: Cosmic dragons
Rarity: Luna / Common
You can adopt one of your own from :icondreamer-breeds: / DreamDrifter91

(mother dragon) Elara - Named after the pretty badass elven mercenary from one of my favourite video games Hunted: The Demon's Forge. Ahem. I mean, she's been given the name of the eight largest moon of the planet Jupiter 8) :icondragonnod1plz:

(the young dragon) Regulus - Named after a star in the Leo constellation. Latin for 'prince' or 'little king'. Regulus was known to Persian astrologers as the Royal star Venant, Watcher of the North.

No one probably reads my rant-like descriptions so I'm just talking to my self like a cray-zay person :squee:

Hey! This is cute! Good work with the expression. I especially like that you've put work into the shadows of the talons and the little puff of smoke is adorable. Really gorgeous little touches.

I thiink you've put a lot of thought into the names here - I like that you've clearly considered what you're drawing and that's paid off in the composition as well. I think your palette works well (blue/orange and purple/yellow is always a good choice!).

In terms of things that I thought could improve - for some reason the crescent moons on the tail don't sit right in the image for me. I think it's the fact the shadows are so well done on the main part of the tails: I get the impression that the crescents are sitting underneath the tails as opposed to being part of them.

I also feel that you've put so much effort into this piece that it's a shame not to display it to its full potential! By scanning this in and playing with the levels etc., you could make this image pop a lot more on screen (it also might make the lines on the underbelly in the mother clearer, because for a quick second I thought that that part of the image had been missed in the colouring before realising it was intentional - I think the lines should be as clear and elegant on the belly as they are on the neck <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=":) (Smile)"/>)

One final point - love how you used the pen stroke visibility to your advantage on the mother dragon. Really good job adding volume and form to the dragon through texture!
