I received a Facebook message from a friend that the Northern Lights were out. So I grabbed my tripod, camera, and shutter release stepped out onto the back deck. And started firing.
This was actually a test shot with a 12800 ISO to know where I was pointed. But it also turned out to be my favourite picture despite the noise.
I live on the edge of town, so light pollution can sort of be seen in the right side of the image. I only had about 30 seconds of prep time, and the lights didn't stay for very long. So there was not time to head out and get a nice landscape shot
