Deathwolf Zombie

This is my first entry to 's Special infected contest!

This is the Deathwolf zombie, it is also known by other names such as "demon dogs" or "mutts"

Creation and reason for naming

The Deathwolf has earned it's name do to their deadly efficiency at hunting, savage natures, and tendency to form small packs. While they are an extremely uncommon infected they are very dangerous, as any species of pokemon is viable to become one. Due to it's unique strain of the virus after being bitten by one of these infected you have a higher chance of mutating into a Deathwolf or other type of "special" infected compared to a regular infected bite.
No one knows exactly why some zombies mutated into these creatures instead of becoming normal zombies some speculate that some people had a mutated strain before taking the vaccine, others think the virus mutated because of the vaccine.

Appearance and Behavior:

The Deathwolf has developed a odd mutation that splits it's body in half starting from it's head and ending anywhere from the base of it's neck to as far the base of it's rib-cage. This split creates a massive prehensile "jaw" accompanied with newly grown razor sharp spikes that resemble fangs. These creatures are more stealthy than other zombies and are capable of both bi-pedal and Quadrupedal locomotion; they bide there time before attacking their prey making them very dangerous. This split can be closed to help it camouflage amoungst a horde of undead as they are hard to tell from a normal zombie at a distance. They have some distinct and identifiable mutations or oddities to look out for such as: lengthening of the front limbs giving them a "lanky" appearance, An unnaturally humped back, and a swollen "line" starting at the face; sometimes this line is hard to spot it the "mouth" is completely shut.
On rare occasions they sometimes have been known to developed extra eyes on random parts of the body usually on the face or chest. It is unclear if these eyes actually function or what exactly their purpose is.

These creatures are somewhat weaker than their appearance foretells because of this a full head-on assault isn't very feasible for this infected class. While it is possible to see them hunting alone deathwolfs prefer to be ambush predators and form small packs to flank their prey. When hunting they will either pounce on their prey and pin them to the ground, and rip at them with their claws. Or grab hold of them with their strong "jaws" and thrash them back and forth like a dog might to to a rag doll.

How to kill:

As deathwolfs rely on ambush the best way to counter these pack hunters is the buddy-system, It's always good to have someone watching your back. Fighting them is extremely risky even with a partner but the best thing to do is keep your distance and try to get somewhere higher up as these infected are not the best climbers. It's recomended to keep your distance while attacking these beasts but If you are forced to confront them up close and personal you have to be quick while dodging their attacks. they are a bit more delicate then they look so it won't take much to kill them, in any case It's best to aim for their legs and torso.
