Yuno History

Yuno grew up primarily in her father's household: her parents divorced so early in her childhood that she could scarcely remember there ever being anything else. She was never discontent with this arrangement because she had very little reason to be - she saw her mother frequently enough and her father had dedicated much of his life to her and her brother's (8 years older) happiness. She spent so much time in her family's garage that her brother used to joke that the oil fumes were affecting her brain, to which she would spend hours trying to think of a comeback before eventually becoming frustrated at her inability to do so and lashing out at him. He was a good natured boy, with a lively sense of humour that was seemingly never dampened, and they got along well.

Her family's efforts made home a sanctuary. Her dyslexia made school difficult for her, and she became gradually more frustrated until she abandoned the idea of ever catching up. By the time it was diagnosed, at age seven, she was already leagues behind. Throughout the bulk of her childhood, she was something of a delinquent; deciding to cover up her difficulty reading with a lack of will to do so, to herself and to others. She found that as she told the world she didn't care, the world (to her, her classmates) responded more positively to her. She became set in her ways. It took the realisation that she actually wanted to do something with her life to make her move.

Yuno liked sport. It was something of a surprise, to be honest. She'd always been a rather traditional girly girl. It was perhaps that moment, the moment that changed her life, that turned everything around, that motivated her to do better in everything she did.

Yuno woke up.

She wanted to be a basketball player.

Like, as a job.

It was a very strange experience for her.

It quickly became apparent that her previous attitude just wasn't going to cut it - she was going to have to do things. All the good 'sporting' schools, with the proper equipment had minimum requirements, requirements that her P.E. scores couldn't support alone. For the first time in her life, Yuno studied. It wasn't even awful.

Higashimori was the goal.
